One Judas Priest fan is still not convinced that the God of Heavy Metal, Rob Halford is gay. Despite the fact that Halford has been openly gay for many years, Shawn Walker believes it must be some sort of mistake or miscommunication.
Walker is a huge Halford fan and hails from one of the most Heavy Metal cities in the world, Cleveland, Ohio. Cleveland has often been referred to as the heart of Metalville. The Cleveland air is thick with the scent of leather, Old Spice, regret and most recently, the whiff of skepticism.

Walker was the keynote speaker at this year’s Metal Con convention in Las Vegas. In between discussions on topics such as Devil Finger Horns, double-kick drumming and denim jacket patch decorating, Shawn revealed his theory concerning Halford. “I respect Rob Halford. He’s the Metal God. But are we really sure he’s gay? I mean, gays don’t usually like Metal. Plus I have seen photos of Rob surrounded by hot chicks.”
“My cousin Timmy was gay and he hated Metal. He listened to show tunes, Bon Jovi, Barbra Streisand and junk like that. Timmy did not wear leather and he did not ride Motorcycles. He wore tight pants and drove a Prius. Halford is like the opposite of gay. Not that there is anything wrong with it, I just don’t believe it. I think Rob is pranking us.”
Walker has even go so far as to proposition Halford in order to get to the truth. “One time I ran into Rob at a pub in London. I bought him a pint then started coming on to him. I was ready to take one for the team just to confirm my suspicions either way. However, Halford turned me down and left the pub. He did not even give me as much as a kiss. Nothing, nada, zip, zero.”
Walker continues to search for the truth and has even embarked on a new theory that Freddie Mercury, Elton John and Jon Bon Jovi are all straight as well. “Yeah I know the theory about Bon Jovi being straight is a little far fetched but we shall see. Those pictures of him in the shorts will be hard to overcome but Stranger things have happened.“
