The Round Mound of Rebound isn’t taking this one lying down.

NBA legend and TV personality Charles Barkley dunked on CNN bosses after The Post reported the network was pulling the plug on “King Charles,” his short-lived prime-time talk show with Gayle King, claiming the gig was only ever meant to be temporary.

“You know the type of boneheads I work with?” Barkley said on an episode of “The Mike Missanelli Podcast” Thursday.

Charles Barkley and Gayle King’s CNN show “King Charles” was a rating failure and pulled after 14 episodes, as The Post reported in April — but the NBA legend claims it was a temporary gig. CNN

“First of all, it wasn’t canceled. I talk to Gayle all the time. They haven’t told us we were canceled. That’s how stupid these people are.”

“King Charles” aired for just 14 episodes on CNN before getting the ax after failing to eclipse reruns of the sitcom “Friends” and episodes of “South Park” in the ratings.

The show averaged just 459,000 total viewers and 106,000 in the 25-54 demographic, according to Nielsen figures, a distant third behind its competitors — Fox News’ “Gutfeld!” and “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” on MSNBC.

When the show debuted in November, the network said it planned to air it through the early spring.

The Hall of Fame power forward, who has co-hosted “Inside the NBA” on TNT since 2000, said he was never told the show was being canceled.

“I was gonna do a short little window and go back to the NBA,” he said, before roasting the cable channel for its humiliating ratings slide.

“But that just shows you how full of s–t the whole thing is with CNN. Like, we had new people take over and we in disarray. Like, yesterday they put an article out that CNN had its worst ratings ever since like 1992.”

CNN, which like TNT, is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, suffered its worst ratings among primetime viewers in the most coveted demographic by advertisers — dealing a gut punch to embattled new boss Mark Thompson.

The cable channel, which touts itself as “the most trusted name in news,” drew just 83,000 viewers ages 25 to 54 during the week of May 13-19 from 8 to 11 p.m. — its lowest-rated week since 1991, according to Nielsen.

But Barkley wasn’t done taking his employer to the hole just yet. He also hit out at TNT for losing its NBA broadcast rights on an episode of “The Dan Patrick Show.”

“Morale sucks. Plain and simple. I just feel so bad for the people I work with, Dan. These people have families, and I just really feel bad for them right now. You know, these people I work with, they screwed this thing up clearly, and we don’t have zero idea of what’s going to happen.”
