A Turkish national who recently entered the United States illegally through the southern border said that Americans should be “worried” about the lax security and what type of individuals are coming into the country.
In an interview with Fox News’ Bill Melugin at the US-Mexico border, the migrant revealed that he and a group of other Turkish nationals paid a Mexican cartel to facilitate their entry into the US through Jacumba, California. The man described how straightforward it was to cross into the US illegally, agreeing that Americans are “right” to be worried about who is coming into the country illegally.
“American people is right. Completely true. Who comes into this country? They don’t know,” the Turkish man explained to Melugin. “I’m good, but how if they’re not good? How if they’re killers, psychopaths… no security check, no background check.”
Melugin reported on X (formerly Twitter) that these individuals had previously been denied visas multiple times. Frustrated by the rejections, they opted to use their money to pay the cartel for illegal entry, and were shocked by how easily they could cross the border.
The Fox News reporter also captured video footage of a number of migrants walking aimlessly down the road after entering the country. He noted that Border Patrol lacks the manpower needed to secure the border, especially in California where they do not have the support of the state government like Texas.
This revelation comes amid record-high migrant encounters at the U.S.-Mexico border. By the end of 2023, U.S. Border Patrol had nearly a quarter of a million encounters with migrants attempting to enter the US illegally from Mexico in just one month, according to data from Customs and Border Protection. This figure is significantly higher than in previous years, highlighting the ongoing lack of security at the border under the current administration.
