Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has requested more aid from the world as a Russian strike has reportedly struck a market in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv.  

Zelensky posted a video that appeared to show a large fire raging at a store in Ukraine on Saturday.
 

 
Zelensky reacted to the video by asking for more aid from the world, saying that the attacks will continue if the country does not obtain military equipment for defense.  
 
"This is a task that must be accomplished and can only be accomplished together with the world. Every day, we call on the world to provide us with air defense and to save our people. Every unmade decision to support us results in the loss of our people," he said in the post. 
 
According to the Associated Press, Zelensky said in a video on Friday that after an offensive from Russian forces in the region, he stated, “Our soldiers have now managed to take combat control of the border area where the Russian occupiers entered." 
 
The statement appears to be in contradiction with Russian officials, who have reportedly captured villages in the area of Kharkiv. About 11,000 people had to evacuate the area after the Russian offensive started on May 10.  

The BBC reported that two people were killed in the incident, according to local authorities. Posts from the Telegram channel of the Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov stated that "A large number of people are missing. Many are wounded." 

The ask for more military aid comes as the US has just approved more aid to Ukraine in a foreign aid package to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Zelensky is remaining in power under martial law with suspended elections.
