Shocking footage has shown an armed Venezuelan gang appearing to take over an apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado. The gang was seen storming through residences with guns in a video that surfaced this week online.

According to the Daily Mail, Aurora City Councilmember Danielle Jurinsky said that the gang has overrun the building. "This isn’t just Americans. Other Venezuelans are being extorted by this gang," Jurinsky said.

In the footage, men can be seen walking in the stairwell, heavily armed, and speaking Spanish. The owners of the video who caught the action on their video doorbell said that the footage occurred just moments before a shootout left one person seriously injured. Several vehicles were hit with gunfire in the firefight.

The footage has surfaced as the ongoing immigration crisis at the southern border continues under the Biden-Harris administration, which has seen record numbers of illegal immigrants crossing the southern border into the US. Police refused to confirm if the gang members were part of the infamous Tren de Aragua gang as the footage was going viral this week.

The Aurora Police Department released a statement about the footage on Wednesday, "The city and Aurora Police Department, as we previously stated, established a special task force in collaboration with other local, state and federal partners to specifically address concerns about Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA) and other criminal activity affecting migrant communities."

"We are aware that components of TdA are operating in Aurora. APD has been increasingly collecting evidence to show the gang is connected to crimes in the area. However, as we have said previously and as the DEA similarly stated, it would be improper at this time for the city and APD to make any conclusory statements about specific incidents or provide details about law enforcement strategy and operations."

Cindy and Edward Romero moved out of the apartment complex in fear of their safety. "It's been a nightmare, and I can't wait to get out of here," Cindy told local outlet Fox 31 as she was preparing to leave. Cindy Romero showed that she would line her front door from top to bottom with locks, “Every day when we come home, we have to do this every time we go outside to take out the garbage. Every time we go to bed at night. We have to keep like this so that nobody can kick in the door."
