Footage from a 2022 town hall hosted by Rep. Alexandra Ocasio Cortez recently resurfaced on social media, showing disgruntled constituents calling out the “Squad” member on her actions regarding foreign policy.  Angry members of the crowd shouted at AOC, criticizing her push to fund the war in Ukraine, warning about the broader implications.

One man yelled at AOC during the event, blasting the move from Congress to send weapons to Ukraine, warning of a potential nuclear fallout.  “Congresswoman, none of this matters unless there’s a nuclear war, which you voted to send arms and weapons to Ukraine.”  The individual praised former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard for leaving the party in protest of these actions.  “Tulsi Gabbard, she’s left the Democratic Party because they’re a bunch of war hawks,” he said.

The individual further called out Harris for running as a Democratic candidate who opposed establishment politics who is now voting alongside the politicians she once opposed.”You originally voted, you ran as an outsider, yet you’ve been, you’re voting to start a third nuclear war with Russia and China.  Why are you playing with the lives of American citizens?” he pressed AOC.

Another person shouted down AOC over her support for the Ukraine funding. “No neighbors if there’s a nuclear bomb, you voted to mobilize and send money to Ukrainian Nazis. You’re a coward. You’re a progressive socialist. Where are you against the war mobilization? He’s telling the right truth. You have done nothing,” the person said.

Like the first man, this protestor praised Tulsi Gabbard for staying true to her values and leaving the Democratic Party over this foreign policy stance.  “Tulsi Gabbard, has shown guts where you’ve shown cowardice. I believed in you, and you became the very thing you sought to fought against,” he said echoing the same sentiment that AOC has abandoned her beliefs.

He continued this criticism while warning of nuclear war with adversarial nations, “That’s what you’ve become. You are the establishment, and you are the reason why everybody will end up in a nuclear war unless you choose to stand up right now and denounce the Democratic Party. Will you do that, yes or no.. Simple. Are you going to stop nuclear war, yes or no.”

The American Tribune reported on recent controversy involving AOC in which there was infighting amongst the far-left “Squad” over the Democratic Party’s stance on Gaza.  Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) recently slammed Ocasio Cortez and other leftist colleagues for voicing support for Vice President Kamala Harris’ push for a ceasefire in Gaza.

“It’s been unconscionable for me the last 10 months to witness my colleagues in this administration refusing to recognize the genocidal war that is taking place in Gaza,” calling out her fellow Democrats for allegedly not recognizing the severity of the conflict.

Another far-left Democrat called out AOC’s association with the establishment.  “For people who struggle letting go of the notion of AOC as this upstart insurgent against the establishment, I think it is uncomfortable to reckon with her absorption into the establishment because it reinforces despair,” Ahmed Husain, a member of DSA’s national political committee, said. “It reinforces this disillusionment, that we can’t do anything at all to change things in America. But that is not true. We can always change things. We can always build an alternative.”
