The UK dance instructor who used her body as a shield to protect her young students from the knifeman who went on a fatal stabbing spree at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport last month has been released from the hospital, as per the Daily Mail.

Leanne Lucas, 35, suffered life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in the neck, back, and arms while attempting to protect her students from the knifeman, identified as 18-year-old Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, the son of African migrants.

Rudakubana stabbed 13 people, including 11 schoolgirls, in which three of them were killed. The victims have been identified as 6-year-old Bebe King, 7-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, and 9-year-old Alice Dasilva Aguiar. The incident occurred on July 29.

Lucas is said to have leapt in front of the knifeman to protect a number of her students. She has been hailed as a "hero" for her efforts on that tragic day.

The dance instructor was rushed to the hospital and immediately underwent several life-saving surgeries following the attack. Lucas was released from the hospital on Aug. 6 but had to be readmitted 10 days later due to breathing difficulties. She had an issue with her lung due to an infection, which needed to be drained via surgery.

A GoFundMe created on behalf of Lucas's family documented the dance teacher's medical challenges and stated that she has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home with her loved ones. The post said that Lucas has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support since the attack.

Axel Rudakubana, 18, has been charged with three counts of murder and 10 counts of attempted murder, court documents show.
