Saudi Arabia’s Royal Court has announced King Salman bin Abdulaziz has been hospitalized.

In a press release, the Royal Court reported that King Salman was hospitalized after a lung infection.

Salman has since been discharged from the hospital and is now receiving treatment at the
Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.

As a result of the medical emergency, the King, the Saudi Crown Prince, and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman have canceled their diplomatic visits to Japan.

Per Khama:

The Saudi Royal Court has announced that King Salman bin Abdulaziz has been hospitalized due to a lung infection.

On Sunday, May 19, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Saudi Arabia’s official news agency, reported that the king is being treated at the Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah, citing a statement from the Royal Court.

The Saudi Royal Court stated, “King Salman will continue his treatment at the Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah with antibiotics until the lung infection is resolved.”

It is worth mentioning that King Salman bin Abdulaziz ascended to the throne in 2015 after serving as Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia for two and a half years.

Meanwhile, Yoshimasa Hayashi, the Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, announced that King Salman’s planned visit to Japan had been postponed due to his illness.

Per Almayadeen:

Due to the Saudi King’s health issues, the visit of the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Tokyo, which was set to begin on May 20, has been postponed, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said today.

“His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was scheduled to pay an Official Visit to Japan from 20 to 23 May,” the ministry said.

“On late night of 19 May the Government of Saudi Arabia informed the Government of Japan that H.R.H. Prince Mohammed’s visit needed to be postponed due to the health condition of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The expected visit of H.R.H Prince Mohammed will be coordinated between the two countries,” it added.

It was then reported that the King had a lung infection and will take antibiotics.
