The One Overlooked Line From the DNC That Undercut Tim Walz's Garbage Anti-Yale JD Vance Talking Point

Considering the number of documented falsehoods he's uttered about his political, personal, and military history, one would think that at this point Vice President Kamala Harris would be cursing out her vice presidential selection committee, which was headed by former Obama Attorney General Eric Holder, for recommending Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to be her VP running mate.

While we have no evidence that she hasn't done exactly that, it would in a way make sense for her not to reconsider her choice considering stories about the whoppers he's told throughout his years of public service take the focus off of her and her dismal record, at least for the short term.

One talking point Walz has repeatedly uttered that has gotten a fair amount of attention and scrutiny from conservative media has been his bizarro attacks on GOP vice presidential nominee and Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) for the crime of making something of himself instead of staying poor and uneducated. Specifically, Walz has dinged Vance on a number of occasions for going to Yale University.

"I had 24 kids in my high school class and none of them went to Yale," Walz said during his Wednesday speech at the Democrat National Convention, while leaving out that many of the Democrats who appeared on stage that week - like twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton - also attended Ivy League schools, including Yale.

But one overlooked story from the DNC completely undercut Walz's strange hits on Vance's academic accomplishments.

Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), Arizona's Democrat Senate nominee, told a story of how he and his siblings were raised by his mom, who was a single mother, and how he worked a lot of odd jobs and eventually landed a spot at Harvard:

"My mom raised us alone, on a secretary's salary. I slept on the floor. I worked every job I could. [...] I made it to Harvard with no money or connections. Other kids were happy because they were at Harvard. I was happy because I finally had a mattress."

Watch:

So I guess it's okay to receive an Ivy League education as long as you're a Democrat or something.

Like I said earlier, this whole line of attack is just 50 shades of dumb.  I don't know who Democrats think it's going to work on but many Americans who hear JD Vance's full origin story in the coming weeks and at the vice presidential debate are likely to be impressed.

That being said, though it's a garbage attack line, let's hope the Democrats keep making it because it reaffirms once and for all that the true elitists in America are from the political party that wants to keep certain people in poverty and uneducated, not the political party that encourages you to achieve the American dream.
