No, I’m not referring to Tim Walz’s 1995 drunk-driving arrest, when he was doing almost 100 mph in a 55- zone, failed a sobriety test, then tried to evade a blood alcohol test by claiming he had a hearing loss from combat (which of course, he never saw and quit the service to skip).

I’m also not speaking of the smartest man Joe Biden ever met: his drug-addicted, gun-toting, energy exec son Hunter — whose good name was so important that dozens of U.S. intelligence experts lied to the media about his laptop being Russia disinformation, which the CIA leaned on Facebook to censor before the 2020 election.

I’m not even talking about all the efforts of Democrats to decriminalize powerful drugs across the country, the ones now filling our streets and highways with people who are permanently stoned.

The truth is much broader and darker: The Democratic Party has become the political movement of people who wish to do whatever they want, then skip off and let other people pay the price — sometimes in cash (see student loans), but oftentimes in blood.

Bros Before Embryos

Let’s not go as far back as the insane 2011 NATO intervention in Libya, which brought back the African slave trade and launched an ongoing civil war. Nor even the botched 2012 response in Benghazi which saw U.S. diplomats slaughtered. After all, as Hillary Clinton wisely observed, “At this point, what difference does it make?”

A current Democrat talking point aimed at young male voters is how legal abortion “empowers” them to walk away from the children they’ve implanted in young women. In online discourse, this campaign promise is often tagged as “Bros Before Embryos.”

That starkly cynical stance is not an outlier, however. If we look not just at Democrats’ words but at their deeds, we see a dark thread running throughout. On one issue after another, the Left stands for just one thing: evading responsibility, and shifting the cost of one’s actions to the vulnerable and the innocent.

What’s a Few Thousand Migrant Child Sex Slaves, Among Friends?

Let me give just the darkest recent examples of Democrats demonstrating their lack of integrity and character. Perhaps you saw Texas Sheriff Javier Salazar speak at the Democratic Convention, pretending that Kamala Harris did a good job of enforcing our laws at the border (as Biden had tasked her). Maybe you never heard of Salazar — I hadn’t.

But it was clever to get a Texas sheriff in a cowboy hat to vouch for Harris — until people do some digging. Conservative author John Daniel Davidson did:

This was the guy who was sheriff when 53 migrants were found dead in a tractor trailer in San Antonio, victims of a cartel smuggling ring. That was in 2022 during one of the worst illegal immigration surges in US history, which was a direct result of Biden’s border policies. https://t.co/7O2UE6eVMt

That’s right: America’s southern border was so well-regulated under Harris’s leadership that migrants were being shoved into trailers and shipping containers to die of thirst and heat by human trafficking rings. Don’t ask yourself whether Salazar or Harris care about American laws or sovereignty. Do they even care about migrants? Or are those poor people merely interchangeable pawns, warm bodies to swell the census, feed the child sex trade, suffer in sweatshops — and maybe get used (without their knowledge) in illegally cast votes?

That would explain why the Biden-Harris regime didn’t bother to track what was happening to more than 300,000 migrant children in just 2024. Where do you think those kids ended up? Do you think it even occurs to Kamala Harris to wonder?

Dead Marines, Abandoned Allies, and International Shame

An equally dark story from the Biden-Harris years touches me more personally: the disgraceful and chaotic surrender Joe Biden ordered in Afghanistan, three years ago this week. I wrote here last year:

As an Army infantry veteran, I well imagine the profound frustration and pain our troops experienced. Their commanders back home enabled absolute chaos on the ground in Kabul and elsewhere, squandering the service members’ courage, and in many cases their lives.

Marine Sgt. Tyler Vargas-Andrews, present at the bombing of Kabul airport’s Abbey Gate on Aug. 26, 2021, testified:

‘I opened my eyes to Marines dead or unconscious lying around me. … My body was overwhelmed from the trauma of the blast. My abdomen had been ripped open, every inch of my exposed body except for my face took ball bearings and shrapnel.…

‘The withdrawal was a catastrophe in my opinion, and there was an inexcusable lack of accountability and negligence. The 11 Marines, one sailor and one soldier that were murdered that day have not been answered for.’

Sgt. Vargas-Andrews lost an arm and a leg in the blast. Nobody in the FBI or NCIS even interviewed him after the terror strike — maybe because their superiors didn’t want to hear about the order he’d received not to shoot the terrorist before he set off the bomb.

Biden and Harris never had to answer for any of that. Neither did their Secretary of State, Department of Defense officials, or military commanders.

The price was paid by the dead American servicemen, their families, and the tens of thousands of Afghan interpreters who helped save American lives for two decades, then got left behind to face the vengeance of the Taliban.

That’s just how the Democrats roll: dine and dash, drink and drive, hit and run. But do it with “joy,” like a “brat,” and you can get away with anything.

The Democrats are the rich kids who go to the wrong side of the tracks for some extralegal excitement, goad the poor kids into taking foolish risks, then use their daddies’ lawyers to stay out of jail while their poor “friends” take the heat. I saw rich kids like that growing up. I don’t want them running this country. Do you?
