According to documents, a left-wing network of websites frequently chastised for spreading “fake news” is expanding in Nevada to help Dems before the November elections.

The Washington Free Beacon stated that the Nevadan, a website promoting Democratic talking points, is “spending large on deceptive digital advertisements masquerading as news reports.” Like others passing for grassroots, Courier Newsroom owns the website; Tara McGowan, a Democratic agent, started it after receiving $20 million from billionaire George Soros’s Open Society Foundations.

“Anyone reading this bogus news should know they are being tricked,” Republican strategist Alec Sears, who works in digital advertising, told the Washington Examiner.

Following revelations about McGowan, the publisher of Courier Newsroom, who has visited the White House since 2022, news of Courier Newsroom’s activities in Nevada follows. Good Information Inc., which McGowan also chairs, owns Courier Newsroom and claims investors as Vero Media Investments, Inc., Technology for Democracy, and the Kenneth & Jennifer Duda Living Trust. The nonpartisan OpenSecrets monitoring group claims that websites connected to Courier Newsroom are really part of a concerted campaign with strong links to Democratic political operators.

As she searches the White House, the Nevadan is launching misleading Facebook ads disparaging Republicans and elevating Vice President Kamala Harris as well as Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV). For instance, the Nevadan sponsored Facebook advertisements in June under a second Trump administration, erroneously asserting that “mandatory military service might soon be the norm for U.S. teens.”

But on June 11, prior to the Facebook ad run, former President Trump had already shot cold water on the idea in a social media post.

NewsGuard, a media monitoring organization, once referred to Courier Newsroom as a “clandestine political operation.” Courier founder McGowan stated in a leaked 2019 document that the network sought to “reach, convince, and activate” Democrats.

Since 2020, Courier, which did not respond to a request for comments, has spent millions of dollars on Facebook advertising. This expenditure has been made despite the fact that Courier, not being a political action committee, is likely required to disclose its extensive financial operations through financial declarations. Documents reveal that the Federal Election Commission decided Courier was a news source in 2022.
