The goal of former President Obama’s team is to draw parallels between VP Kamala Harris’s 2024 campaign and the fervor of his 2008 campaign.

Following President Joe Biden’s resignation as the party’s 2024 contender and the younger Harris’s acceptance of the position, the Democratic Party saw an unexpected surge in enthusiasm. Valerie Jarrett, a former top advisor to President Obama, made a direct connection between energy in 2008 and 2024 when speaking at an Axios event.

Comparing Harris’s campaign to Obama’s, Jarrett remarked, “In a sense, it is a continuation of the hard work he began.”

She said, “We are ecstatic about everything that is happening right now.” “All that President Obama would have ever wanted is for young people to pick up that baton and run with it today.”

She said that Obama and his wife, Michelle, are content with their lives now that they are not in the White House and relish “seeing the next generation of leaders develop.”

Harris and Obama have a past together; the vice president was among Obama’s most ardent and early backers. She helped plan a fundraiser for Obama’s 2004 Illinois Senate campaign.

Jarrett told the New York Times, “They met, they bonded, and they have built a really good connection over the years.”

Harris played a significant role in Obama’s reelection campaign shortly after securing the Democratic nomination in June 2008.

“There’s an Obama halo in which, you know, he put the light on her,” attorney general candidate Harris’ campaign manager, Brian Brokaw, stated to the publication. “The analogies flowed quickly and freely.”

The two get sufficiently close. Obama caused a stir when he commented on her appearance.

Obama said in 2013 “You have to be cautious too, first of all, she is intelligent, she is committed, and she is tough, and she is precisely what you’d want in somebody who is administering the law and ensuring that everybody is getting a fair deal.” “She’s also the nation’s most attractive attorney general, hands down.”
