On August 20, 2024, Florida voters have a unique opportunity to put principled conservative candidates in office at the local level.

Former Army intelligence officer and teacher Gavin Rollins wants to bring about major reforms in Lake County, Florida’s school district. He is currently running for the Lake County School Board to represent its 4th district.

Before this race, Rollins previously served two terms as a county commissioner, where he advocated for saving taxpayer dollars and streamlining government services. Rollins has been a staunch proponent of term limits and is not keen on having politicians stay in office as part of a parasitic career.

Rollins told Big League Politics, that the current education system is leaving thousands of young Americans “woefully unprepared” for the realities of the modern workforce while also making them ignorant about the foundation principles of the US Republic and basic civics. As a history teacher, Rollins believes it’s incumbent upon himself to educate young Americans on the republican virtues of the American system.

In the case of Mike Levine, he is a long-time Florida resident and real estate professional who wants to clean up the political scene in the Sunshine State. He is running for Florida State House District 26, where he promises to fight against the culturally leftist agenda infecting Florida politics.

Levine is largely focused on the cost of living crisis afflicting his home of Lake County. Big League Politics learned from Levine that Lake County’s household income is $10,000 below state household income. With inflation roaring across the American economy, Levine argues that mass inflation is placing large stress on lower income households in Lake County.

In addition, he contends that Florida’s large illegal alien population is adding further problems to its housing market. Per figures by Pew Research, there are about 900,000 illegal aliens residing in Florida. Naturally, this places an undue burden on the state’s housing supply. Levine is of the belief that mass deportations of illegal aliens would play a positive role in Florida’s housing affordability issues.

Last but certainly not least, former State Representative Anthony Sabatini is running for the Lake County Commission. As the representative of District 32 from 2018 to 2022, he boasted the most conservative voting record in Florida. Sabatini has championed legislation like Constitutional Carry and has had five legislative bills that have been signed into law by Governor DeSantis. He has also filed and sponsored legislation on issues ranging from fighting Big Tech censorship, imposing an E-Verify system to fight illegal alien labor, and banning transgender surgeries on children.

All three of these candidates would be great additions to Florida’s roster of liberty conservatives at the local and state level. Let’s hope Florida voters make the right call in the Republican primary tonight.
