Planned-Parenthood endorsed Indiana gubernatorial candidate Jennifer McCormick recently refused to denounce late-term abortions in a statewide talk-radio interview, and downplayed the horrific impact on the preborn child — stating cavalierly that with abortion the “baby’s put in a bad situation.”

McCormick’s interview was aired on the highly popular Kendall and Casey Show on WIBC out of Indianapolis on Aug. 7, 2024. Show hosts gave McCormick multiple opportunities to state her position on abortion limits, including late-term and moment-of-birth abortions, but she stuck closely to the Planned Parenthood talking points and avoided taking a stand in favor of any limits.

“Jennifer McCormick’s refusal to identify any abortion limits she supports means she supports abortion for any reason, at any stage, up to the moment of birth,” said Mike Fichter, president and chief-executive officer of Indiana Right to Life.

Fichter said that McCormick’s comment that “the baby’s put in a bad situation” was stunning.

“It was undoubtedly a slip-up from the Planned Parenthood agenda, and yet a breathtaking understatement about what an abortion does to a baby,” said Fichter.

The use of the word ‘baby’ is a deviation from the Planned Parenthood narrative that strives to dehumanize unborn children so as to justify abortion for any reason at any time, such as late-term and moment-of-birth abortions.

McCormick maintained the Planned Parenthood position in the radio interview that abortion is women’s healthcare.

“But her admission that the unborn child is a baby revealed what most Americans already know — every abortion involves two lives: the pregnant mother and the baby,” said Fichter. “And true healthcare cares for the mother and the baby. That’s why most OB/GYN practices and hospitals in Indiana did not perform abortions even before Indiana changed its law in 2022 to legally limit abortion.”

The change in Indiana abortion law has saved thousands of unborn babies from abortionists since going into effect in 2023 after multiple court battles. Prior to the law going it to effect, more than 9,500 babies died annually at the hands of abortionists in Indiana. According to state public records, more than a half million (or 560,000) babies were aborted in Indiana from 1973 through 2023, when Indiana’s new abortion limits went into effect.

“Indiana Right to Life’s vision is for Indiana is become a model state where pregnant mothers receive compassionate support and every unborn baby’s life is protected,” states Fichter. “Jennifer McCormick’s plan is for abortion to be as unlimited in Indiana as it is in New York, Illinois, or California.”
