Vice President Kamala Harris has been criticized for her recent remarks at a small campaign event in Pennsylvania, where she lectured the crowd about the “duality of Democracy.”  Harris has been continually ridiculed for speaking in a “word salad” manner, where her speeches sound eloquent at face value, but it is challenging to find genuine substance in her message.

Speaking in front of what appears to be a homemade banner stating, “Pennsylvanians for Harris Walz,” Harris said, “Our election is about understanding the importance of this beautiful country of ours in terms of what we stand for around the globe as a democracy.  As a democracy, we know, there’s a duality to the nature of democracy.”

The vice president further expounded on the inherent “duality” of Democracy, which is powerful yet so fragile simultaneously.  “On the one hand, incredible strength when it is intact.  What it does for its people to protect and defend their rights, their liberty, their freedom. Incredibly strong, and incredibly fragile,” she said.

Conservative commentator Greg Price shared the clip on social media, jokingly writing, “Kamala word salads are so back.”  Another user in the comments section echoed a similar sentiment, stating, “It’s an impressive skill to be able to speak so many words and say absolutely nothing.”

Others speculated that, without a teleprompter, Harris is prone to speak in this manner.  “Remove Kamala from a teleprompter, & this is what you get, every time. She is doing her Barack Obama impersonation. When the audience claps & cheers like trained seals, she looks off into the horizon, with a noble look on her face,” they wrote.  Another added, “She can’t walk around with a teleprompter so she’s left to repeating memorized speeches she’s made before- filled with the same empty platitudes that made no sense the first time.”

Many users pointed out that this is a recycled speech that Harris has repeatedly used in the past.  One uses posted a past clip of Harris in the comments section where she said, “Because when we think about the strength of our democracy, you know, I think that there’s a duality to the nature of democracy. When it’s intact, oh, it’s so strong in terms of what it does to uphold and protect individual rights and freedoms, so strong in its nature and it’s very fragile. It will only be as strong as our willingness to fight for.”

Another user suggested that Harris’ public speaking skills are sub-optimal, especially for a job such as the commander-in-chief who has to represent the United States in all capacities.  “I know exactly what’s happening to her. She’s losing her train of thought in the middle of speaking and just doesn’t want to stop talking. Happens to me all the time on live streams. I try to talk through it by extending the current thought further without rewinding like she is,” they claimed.
