Democratic vice presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) is apparently nostalgic for the days when families could all get together on holidays without police interfering.
“Some of us who have less hair are old enough to remember when you could go to Thanksgiving or watch a Steelers game with your relatives and not complain about politics the whole time,” Walz said while campaigning in Pennsylvania on Sunday.
Apparently, Walz believes that it is Republicans, and not Democrats, who have brought partisan politics into family affairs. “We don’t call each other names,” Walz continued. “This campaign is a chance to bring out that joy, turn the page, and look to the future.”
Never mind that it was Walz himself who first started calling his opponents “weird.” And for almost a decade now, it has been young Democrats, particularly young female Democrats, who have been ruining Thanksgiving football with inane political discussions.
The Democratic National Committee puts out a guide every year to help young Democrats interject politics into family gatherings. And when you look at the data, it is young women, not old uncles, who have suddenly become more partisan.
According to Gallup, as recently as 1999, fewer than 30% of women aged 18-29 identified as liberal, while that number is now almost 45%. Young men have become slightly less liberal over the same time, falling from 25% who were liberal in 1999 to just 21% today.

And it is these far-left young women who have become far more politically active than their male counterparts. Young politicized women are more likely to vote, volunteer, and donate money to political campaigns than their male counterparts.
So if Walz really wants to return to an America where we could all enjoy a little football without political lectures from our niece, he should be telling his own supporters to shut up — at least while the game is on.
