Late Model Dirt track star Scott Bloomquist died in a plane crash on Friday morning.
Bloomquist was piloting a single-engine Piper J3 when he crashed into a barn in Tennessee.
A family friend of Bloomquist posted on Facebook that the racing legend was flying his vintage plane around the family farm when the crash occurred.
Brian Carter, CEO of the World Racing Group, stated, “Bloomquist played a key role with DIRTcar Racing and the World of Outlaws, helping to rebuild the World of Outlaws Late Model Outlaws so it could grow into what it’s become today.”

Late Model Dirt star Scott Bloomquist, 60, lost his life in a small aircraft crash near his Mooresburg, Tennessee home Friday morning.
A family friend posted on Facebook that Bloomquist was flying one of his vintage planes around the family farm when the accident occurred.
The winner of 94 Lucas Oil Late Model and 33 World of Outlaws Late Model races, Bloomquist’s last victory in one of these primary series came in 2020 at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Knox Dale, Pennsylvania, but despite the lack of recent wins, Bloomquist remained a fan favorite.
His most recent top-five came this year at in a Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series race in Tazewell, Tennessee.

Dirt racing legend Scott Bloomquist was killed in a plane crash in Hawkins County on Friday morning, according to officials.
The crash happened on Brooks Road off Highway 31 in Mooresburg, Tennessee.
An FAA report says a single-engine Piper J3 crashed into a barn near Mooresburg on the property of Scott Bloomquist Racing. News 5 has confirmed that Bloomquist was not a licensed pilot.
Bloomquist’s fellow competitors have shared their sympathy on social media for the Bloomquist family.
