If elected in November, the government of former President Donald Trump promised to cut “energy and power rates” by half.
The U.S. would cut energy and power rates in half “within 12 months” and a “maximum of 18 months,” according to Trump, who announced this to the crowd during his rally in Asheville, North Carolina, on Wednesday.
In contrast, Trump declared during his address that “under my leadership, the United States would commit to the ambitious aim of lowering energy and power rates by half – at least.”
“We plan to cut rates in half in the next twelve months, or up to eighteen months,” Trump continued. “Oh, well, if it does not work out, you’ll say that.” I gave him my vote. I was still quite successful with them. However, our goal is to cut them in half, since we believe we can perform better. And I delivered on every single promise I made. Everything at all.
Trump claims that energy costs will “reduce by 50 to 70 percent.”
According to a July analysis by S&P Global, the price of power in the US climbed by 21.9 percent between 2018 and 2023.
States like Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, California, and Connecticut saw the most increases in power rates.
Electricity costs increased by 65.6 percent in Maine, 51.3 percent in New Hampshire, and 50.5 percent in Massachusetts in 2010. There was a 49 percent increase in Connecticut and a 47.8 percent increase in California.
