President Joe Biden has sold Democrats’ electric vehicle revolution as a way to boost American manufacturing and create good-paying jobs.

The electric vehicle (EV) supply chain – from the mining of the core rare earth metals like lithium, cobalt, and nickel to the actual production of crucial EV components like lithium-ion batteries – is nearly completely controlled by Communist China thanks in large part to the fact that Democrats refuse to allow many of the processes critical to EV production to be conducted in the U.S. due to their environmental extremist agenda.

China’s Communist government heavily subsidizes its EV industry and wants to flood the United States with them.

The Biden White House put out a statement in February vowing that the Democrat President would prevent Chinese EVs from being sold in the U.S. because they’re a national security risk.

“China is determined to dominate the future of the auto market, including by using unfair practices,” Biden said in March. “China’s policies could flood our market with its vehicles, posing risks to our national security. I’m not going to let that happen on my watch.”

But all his tough talk is just bluster.

The Biden regime quietly changed the electric vehicle tax credit rules to benefit Communist China.

To juice the demand for EVs, a loophole was opened that allows Biden’s EV tax credits to be used on the purchase of vehicles that feature batteries made with graphite and minerals sourced from China after previously being barred.

Graphite is a critical mineral for manufacturing batteries, and Communist China controls 97% of the market.

Critics called it a giveaway to China and said it cracked the door open for their electric vehicles to enter the American market.

“Congress created these tax incentives to secure our supply chains and generate American jobs while supporting EV adoption,” National Mining Association CEO Rich Nolan said. “They did not intend for loopholes to be created that essentially amount to a blank check from the American taxpayer to China.”

Biden’s environmental extremist agenda has shut down attempts to boost domestic mining of rare earth minerals.

U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH), one of the Senate Democrats up for reelection this fall, blasted Biden for the move.

“The Administration is wrong – this will allow China to infiltrate the American auto supply chain, at American taxpayers’ expense. American tax dollars should support American manufacturing and American workers – not enrich Chinese companies,” Brown said. “Ohioans in Appalachia are pioneering exciting work to turn coal into graphite that could be used in these batteries.”

U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) called the Communist Chinese tax credit loophole “outrageous and illegal” and a clear endorsement of “made in China.”

American graphite companies asked that former President Donald Trump’s tariffs be reinstated against Communist Chinese graphite.

“The North American graphite industry is in a vulnerable position and its future hinges on the ability to counter China’s anti-competitive actions,” North American Graphite Alliance Spokesman Erik Olson wrote to U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai in a letter.
