On August 12, 2024, South Carolina Senator  Lindsey Graham described Ukraine’s unexpected assault into Russia’s Kursk region as “brilliant” and “bold” while he paid a visit to the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. In light of Ukraine’s perceived military success, Graham has called on the Biden regime to supply Ukraine with the weapons it needs to bog Russia down on the battlefield.

According to Ukrainian military authorities, the Ukrainian military has controlled roughly 1,000 square kilometers in the Kursk region.

Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal accompanied Graham.

“What do I think about Kursk? Bold, brilliant, beautiful. Keep it up,” Graham said to reporters.

“Bottom line is to the administration. … Give them weapons they need to win the war they can’t afford to lose,” he continued.

At the meeting with the delegation of US Senators, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy congratulated the Biden regime for its support.

“We discussed what exactly is needed to bring this war to a just end, including our need to use long-range weapons,” he subsequently remarked  in a post Zelensky published on X. This is another case of how reckless the proxy war inUkraine has become. 

Ukraine’s incursion into Russia is a short-term humiliation given that its intelligence and defense apparatus dropped the ball in not foreseeing this attack out left field.

The Kursk misadventure is at best a marginal victory that will be quickly wiped away by the far more superior and stronger Russian forces. If anything, it is another reason why Russia will not be willing to go to the negotiating table, knowing full well that the US government is an untrustworthy entity that cannot abide by its agreements.

Russia will end up pursuing a more maximalist aim where it captures most of Eastern Ukraine and demilitarizes the country while NATO and the rest of the West gets to manage a rump state in Western Ukraine.

Such a tragic scenario could’ve been avoided altogether had the West acknowledged the failures of NATO expansion, and not tried to stoke tensions with Russia by turning Ukraine into a sacrificial lamb against it. However, the point of no return has been reached. And from the looks of it, the modern-day Ukrainian state will cease to exist.
