Speaking with Breitbart News Daily host Matthew Boyle, Dr. Ben Carson sounded off on the housing crisis, namely that housing affordability is in the tank, saying that Democrats own the issue because the “millions” of illegal immigrants that they let into America are worsening the issue.

Speaking about the matter, Dr. Carson told Boyle that the first issue with housing is that millions of illegal immigrants have crossed into America under the Biden-Harris Administration, increasing the cost of housing. He said, “Well, recognize that there’s a couple of factors. First of all, he’s infused millions of people into society, and they need places to stay, also, so the competition for these places goes up, which, of course, drives the price up.”

Continuing, he pinned the inflation crisis on the government spending trillions and trillions of dollars and pumping that cash into the economy, saying that such spending is the “economics 101 formula for inflation.” Introducing that issue, he said, “And then you look at the inflationary spiral: What’s causing all of this inflation? A number of things.”

He added, commenting on the increasing cost of energy under this administration, “And then what we’ve done with energy. With energy costs, the price of gasoline goes up, the price of operating a trucking business goes up, and those costs are passed on, and this country is dependent upon transportation of goods through trucking.” He added, on that same point, “So, if their prices increase massively, everybody else’s prices are going to increase massively, also.”

Arizona’s Kari Lake made a similar point when speaking to Breitbart about housing costs and illegal immigration in July. She said, “And, even more than that, we have 12 million people who poured in. They have to live somewhere, and the government’s putting them up — sometimes hotels, sometimes they’re giving them subsidies for apartments. Even if they’re not … we’re having to compete for those apartments with them.”

Continuing, she noted that supply and demand is a clear rule and that since housing supply hasn’t shot up alongside illegal immigration, prices are higher and now pricing out young Americans. She said, “And when you have only so much supply and you have so much demand, prices go up. That’s exactly why housing is unaffordable for young people.”

Noting that this issue has impacted her children and their generation, she said, “My daughter is 21; my son is 19. Their generation, because I talk to them and their friends all the time, this young generation is fantastic, by the way. They’ve been through a lot with the indoctrination, but they’re coming out and being conservative, realizing they have to help chart the course for the future.”

She also noted that young people don’t see a future where they can “own homes to have a backyard for dogs to run around and have the ability to get married, afford to be married with children.” That lack of  hope for such a future tends to depress people, adding to America’s woes and disillusionment.
