President Joe Biden gave an interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett last week in which he claimed most Americans have plenty of money to pay for what they need, even at prices that have become overly inflated during his term, but a network correspondent disputed that on Saturday.

CNN’s John King told anchor Jake Tapper that Biden’s rosy economic message is “pissing off” many voters because, despite what the actual economic figures for the country indicate, ordinary Americans aren’t “feeling” good about their own financial situations.

Tapper asked King about his “reaction to President Biden’s economic pitch there,” King claimed that Biden was “right on the numbers about the economic turnaround, but he is on very dangerous ground.”

“I would say he risks offending, forgive my language, I would say he risked p***ing off some of the voters I’ve talked to in my travels over the last six or seven months because they don’t feel it,” King said.

“And so when he said at the top of that, ‘we have turned it around,’ and he said in the middle of that, ‘the polls are wrong,’ — trust me from my travels, we have a vote, a group in Milwaukee just north of where the president was today. And when we visited, then there used to be a lot of factories in their neighborhood. Those factories are gone,” King added.

Voters in the swing state of Wisconsin, King said, “talk a lot about the cost of living and the cost of groceries.”

“Just last week, I was in Michigan talking to auto workers, auto workers who are prepared to vote for President Biden,” King continued.

“They believe he’s the most pro-union president. But even they seem beleaguered when they talk about the cost of groceries and how hard it is, and they can’t move out of their house because they want to upgrade, but they can’t afford a newer house, a bigger house right now because of mortgage rates.

“So the statistics back up the president’s argument that economy is much better and is growing and is strong, the strongest in the world. He is correct. However, voters don’t feel that way, and voters don’t like being told they’re wrong,” King added.

The Federal Reserve has raised interest rates to the highest they have been in decades in response to rampant inflation that began shortly after Biden took office. Economic experts say it was worsened by massive government spending bills that the Democrat-controlled Congress helped Biden pass during his first two years.

Meanwhile, gasoline prices are rising again and food costs are anywhere from 25-30 percent higher than they were when former President Donald Trump left office.

As for King’s claim that autoworkers are set to cast ballots for Biden, the head of the United Auto Workers union doesn’t necessarily agree. Just days after UAW President Shawn Fain said in late January that the organization was formally endorsing Biden’s reelection, he dropped a bombshell during a live Fox News interview about the preferred candidate for most members.

He appeared to suggest it will be Donald Trump.

After Fain fielded some questions about the slumping sales of electric vehicles and how that could affect the union labor force moving forward, host Neil Cavuto noted that in past decades, sizeable numbers of UAW members supported President Ronald Reagan and his successor, President George H. W. Bush, as well as other Republican presidents through the years.

Cavuto then went on to point out that many UAW members were supportive of Trump in 2016 and 2020 and remain supportive of him now before asking Fain how he felt about that.

“Look, it’s democracy in action,” the UAW boss began. “Let me be clear about this: A great majority of our members will not vote for President Biden. Yeah, some will, but that’s the reality of this. The majority of our members are gonna vote their paychecks. They’re gonna vote for an economy that works for them.”
