According to NBC News, the Florida Republican Party chose Barron, the youngest son of Donald Trump, to represent the state as an at-large delegate to the RNC on Wednesday, marking his first foray into politics. Barron is 18 years old.
Barron, who will graduate from high school the next week, is going into Republican politics along with his half-siblings Don Jr., Eric, Tiffany, and Ivanka. Fox News reports that the 41 Florida delegates to the RNC will include Don Jr., Eric, and the youngest daughter of the former president, Tiffany.
A Trump campaign insider told ABC News that Barron is “on the delegation list and… is very interested in our nation’s political process.”
“The Republican Party of Florida is preparing for a wonderful convention in Milwaukee, but more importantly, we are excited as we continue to set the framework in Florida for victory,” stated Florida GOP Chair Evan Power. We are going to win, and we will do so handsomely in November.
Barron gained notoriety last week when Trump’s attorneys persuaded Judge Juan Merchan to grant their client a day off so that he could attend his son’s graduation ceremony amid his father’s hush-money trial in New York. Barron’s graduation is this Friday, May 17, and Merchan has consented to let Trump go.
As he attempts to campaign for the White House, the presumed Republican presidential nominee finds himself confined to a Manhattan courthouse four days a week. Additionally, Trump’s numerous civil and criminal prosecutions impact his children.
Don Jr., Eric, and Ivanka gave testimony in Trump’s New York civil business fraud lawsuit last year. The New York Democratic Attorney General accused Trump of inflating his wealth and financial records, and she sought penalties for him and his corporation. Don Jr. and Eric now oversee the Trump Organization, which the former president’s father established. Ivanka stepped down from her role as leader to become an advisor in her father’s White House.
Milwaukee will host the RNC National Convention from July 15–18.
