The same day Vice President Kamala Harris announced her running mate, an NPR/PBS/Marist poll showed that 71% of respondents had never heard of or were unsure about Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN). To anyone generally observing the vice presidential pick, Walz seems like a standard, even boring, Democratic choice.

“To characterize [Walz] as left is so unreal. He’s right down the middle. He’s a heartland of America Democrat,” said Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on MSNBC.

The Left wants people to believe Walz is a folksy centrist. But Walz is as extreme as they get, including on abortion. 

Harris has made abortion a main part of her campaign for president. She has always been far left when it comes to reproductive matters. With Walz, she has someone who is just as alarmingly radical. Together, the Harris-Walz ticket embraces all that conservatism rightly rejects.

As governor of a left-leaning state, Walz is eager to disregard the very sanctity of human life. In 2023, Walz signed two bills into law that radicalized an already pro-abortion state.

The Protect Reproductive Options Act addresses “reproductive freedom” and essentially allows for abortion at any stage of pregnancy: “Every individual who becomes pregnant has a fundamental right to continue the pregnancy and give birth, or obtain an abortion, and to make autonomous decisions about how to exercise this fundamental right.”

The Health and Human Services Omnibus Bill eliminated the 24-hour waiting period “after receiving a statutory informed-consent process” along with a requirement that abortion providers in the state give detailed reporting.

Democrats around the country routinely push back against claims that they celebrate late-term abortion. Leftists also insist they are the ones who truly care about women. But these laws are radical, and they are neither baby- nor female-friendly. 

This past March, Harris visited a Planned Parenthood clinic in St. Paul, Minnesota, during her “Fight for Reproductive Freedoms Tour.” With her visit, she became the first vice president to visit an abortion clinic. USA Today glowingly called it “historic.” In a laughable list of “11 Major Things She’s Accomplished As VP”, Buzzfeed placed her visit to Planned Parenthood at No. 1. Walz proudly stood alongside her at the clinic visit. 

On the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Harris talked about the outrage she felt when the decision came down. She calls abortion a “fundamental right.” By virtue of her biology, Harris has made abortion a major component of her campaign for president.

With the addition of abortion extremist Walz, Harris has a ticket that places the so-called right far above the value of human life and even the mother’s safety and health. Walz isn’t merely aligned on the matter. He actively works to keep unwanted and inconvenient individuals in the womb from starting life outside of it. 

The Harris-Walz ticket represents just how far the Left will go when they’re granted governing power. Walz may be a relative unknown to most people who casually observe politics. He may even look nonthreatening. But his history as governor shows he is no centrist. He proudly created the most hostile environment for unborn life in the entire nation.

“Kamala Harris and Tim Walz make up the most pro-abortion presidential ticket America has ever seen. There is no daylight between them on this issue,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, of the duo.

It is bad enough that Walz is a governor. He, along with Harris, should not be given the White House.
