Shortly after Joe Biden announced his historic withdrawal from the 2024 election, Vice President Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) attended an online fundraiser with numerous prominent “green” activists and pledged to support far-left environmental proposals as president.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, the July 25th event raised a mere $100,000 for Harris’ campaign as she was still struggling to shore up support to become the presumptive nominee. Speakers at the event praised Harris for supporting the Green New Deal and for vowing to ban all fracking, positions that she has since attempted to walk back since becoming the nominee.

One of the co-hosts of the event was Leah Stokes, a consultant with the environmental firm Rewiring America. She started the call by pointing out that Harris previously established an “environmental crimes unit” as District Attorney of San Francisco, and then oversaw a nationwide electric school bus program as vice president.

“The climate movement alongside environmental justice leaders and folks working in the clean energy industry are all behind Kamala Harris. It’s amazing to see our movement coalesce behind Harris,” said Stokes in a statement after the call. “When it comes to the planet, the stakes of this election could not be higher. Kamala Harris is the climate leader we need in the White House.”

Another co-host of the call was Saad Amer, an environmental consultant for the United Nations, who praised Harris for vowing to push “real goals, aggressive goals” in the fight against so-called global warming. He emphasized her support for a plan to cut all carbon emissions in the United States in half by the year 2030.

The event was orchestrated by Give Green, a fundraising platform with an emphasis on Democrats who believe in the threat of global warming. Give Green was founded by green activists associated with the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).

Harris’ support for “green” initiatives is just one of many far-left stances she took as senator and vice president that she has since attempted to distance herself from now that she is the nominee. She plans to begin a tour of key battleground states this week, with her starting point being in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where her stance on fracking is deeply unpopular with voters in the oil-rich state.
