Former President Donald Trump played tit-for-tat with the Harris campaign by calling Vice President Kamala Harris “weird” in an interview.

Ms. Harris and fellow Democrats have embraced the term “weird” as a way to describe Mr. Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio. The Democrats have labeled the two weird over Mr. Trump’s comments about Hannibal Lecter and Mr. Vance’s comments on abortion and childless women.

In an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, Mr. Trump jabbed back after the host asked about the “weird” label.

“Look, what they do is, they take sound bites, ’Russia, Russia, Russia. He’s a paid associate of Putin.’ These people are crazy, OK?” Mr. Trump said.

Circling back to the weird comments, he said, “This whole thing is a con job.”

“‘Just plain weird.’ Do you know who is plain weird? She’s plain weird,” he said. “She’s a weird person. Look at her past. Look at what she does.”

“And look at what she used to say about herself, and I won’t get into it, what she used to say and who she was compared to, what she said starting at about 2016,” he said.

He said she’s become “a totally different person, only for political reasons.”

Mr. Vance has also responded to his new label from the Democrats, saying the comments don’t hurt his feelings.

Others have attempted to flip the script on the weird comments too, like Mr. Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.

In an X post on Monday, the younger Mr. Trump said, “You know what’s weird? Soft on crime politicians like Kamala allowing illegal aliens out of prison so they can violently assault Americans.”

Last week, he posted a video of Ms. Harris discussing climate change and how that might affect a family’s decision to have children. Mr. Vance reposted it and said, “It’s almost like these people don’t want young people starting families or something.

“Really weird stuff,” he said.
