What Democrats do is a far bigger problem than what they say

Voters can still be disgusted by Democrats’ statements, but the party’s actions should no longer surprise them. In Washington last Wednesday, America got examples of both. At the Capitol, roughly half of congressional Democrats refused to attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to a joint session of Congress. Hours later at the White House, President Joe Biden attempted to explain to the public why he was renouncing his reelection bid while retaining his presidency.

Democrats’ boycott of Netanyahu’s speech started at the top. Vice President Kamala Harris, whose few official responsibilities include presiding over the Senate, skipped out. Next in line was Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), president pro tempore of the Senate, who also ducked out. Instead, Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) was left to fill in as acting president pro tempore. The last time such a switch was made was 1989

Not simply satisfied with shunning America’s closest ally in the Middle East as it wages the West’s fight against terrorism, Democrats sanctimoniously covered their retreat. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) said, “[Netanyahu] is a war criminal who is actively committing genocide against the Palestinian people while putting the lives of the hostages and the stability of the region in jeopardy. I fully agree with the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice that he should be held accountable for his crimes, not addressing Congress.”

Some of the half who attended joined in the progressive platitudes. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) displayed a hand sign that read “guilty of genocide” on one side and “war criminal” on the other.

Hours later down at Pennsylvania Avenue, Biden went before the nation to tell them what they already knew, that he had unprecedentedly dropped out of the presidential race, but didn’t offer any of his reasons for doing so. Like his colleagues, he reached for progressive poetics to cover the pedestrianly prosaic: “When you elected me to this office, I promised to always level with you, to tell you the truth. And the truth, the sacred cause of this country, is larger than any one of us, and those of us who cherish that cause cherish it so much, a cause of American democracy itself must unite to protect it.”

Biden never got around to explaining the glaring contradictions in what he said and what he was doing. He didn’t “level” with the people, just as he didn’t willingly relinquish the nomination he democratically won. He was clearly and publicly pushed out by his party — primary election results be damned.

Of course, while Democrats fly on the wings of words to their progressive pedestals, they leave America to deal with the consequences of their actions.

In the Capitol, Israel was further isolated in its struggle against indescribable evil. The entire world, with the exception of those who practice and support terrorism, is invested in Israel destroying Hamas. Allowing Hamas to survive to regroup and run a state is to give terrorism a place within the world order instead of the pariah status it has rightfully held.

The big winners in such an outcome are Russia, Cuba, North Korea, and increasingly China, all of whom are willing to pursue any means of advancing themselves to the world’s detriment. And of course, the biggest winner is Iran, the world’s chief sponsor of terrorism globally.

The big losers are those nations that adhere to the West’s standards of civilized behavior. The biggest loser among them will be America, the country that holds the standard for the West and ultimately will be called on to wield the sword in their defense.

At the White House, America was further defrauded in its democracy. Hidden in plain view over the last month has been the undermining of the democratic process by a party that claims to be “saving our democracy.”

Nothing could be less democratic than a coup, and what Democrats perpetrated on Biden was nothing less than a coup. That it was done in public through the media and in broad daylight changes none of what it was. Nor does their attempt now to memorialize the man, including by enlisting Biden into giving his own eulogy — they politically dispatched for the purpose of retaining power.

Words have no meaning for Democrats, only actions do. Their statements are mere bubbles of blather. Like bubbles, they float airily before our eyes only to pop into nothingness. Their actions are just the opposite: boulders that they shape and join into an enduring edifice.

When it comes to today’s Democrats, what they say is not what they do, while what they do speaks volumes.
