Former President Donald Trump (R), speaking this weekend at The Bitcoin Conference, garnered raucous applause when he promised to fire Gary Gensler, the current chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Trump was clearly taken aback at the crowd's reaction when he made the announcement.

Even Trump seemed surprised at the support for his announcement, so much so that he repeated it, to even more thunderous applause.

Trump also announced that his administration will create a strategic bitcoin reserve:

Telling the crowd that Kamala Harris doens’t like Bitcoin, Trump said supporting Bitcoin is a matter of America First:
The reason I’ve come to address the Bitcoin community today can be summed up in two simple words: America first. If we don’t do it, China and others are going to be doing it. Let’s do it and do it right. If crypto is going to define the future I want it to be mined, minted and made in the USA.
