When FBI Director Christopher Wray testified about the horrific assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on Wednesday, July 24, he said that he was not sure if it was a bullet or a piece of glass or shrapnel that struck former President Donald Trump in the ear when he was fired upon during his Butler, PA, campaign rally. Numerous Republicans have now called on him to recant.

FBI Director Christopher Wray, as background, said during his testimony before the legislature that “with respect to former President Trump, there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that, you know, hit his ear.” That line drew scorn and fire from many on the right who saw it as not accurate and see the evidence of a bullet hitting Trump’s ear as clear.

Among those who did so was Sen. Lindsey Graham, the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, who did so in a letter he fired off to Wray on the morning of Friday, July 26, demanding that Wray immediately correct his testimony about what hit former President Trump in the ear during the Butler campaign rally.

In the letter, Fox News Digital reports, Sen. Graham argued that it is “clear to everyone” that Trump survived being hit by a bullet fired by the attempted assassin, saying, “It is clear to everyone that President Trump survived an assassination attempt by millimeters, as the attempted assassin’s bullet ripped the upper part of his ear.”

Continuing, Sen. Graham added, Fox News Digital reports, “Therefore, I urge you to immediately correct your statement and acknowledge that President Trump was hit by a bullet rather than glass or shrapnel. As head of the FBI, you should not be creating confusion about such matters, as it further undercuts the agency’s credibility with millions of Americans.”

Sen. Graham wasn’t the only one. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson sounded off as well, arguing that the videos from the event show that it was clearly a bullet that went through former President Trump’s ear. He said, “We’ve all seen the video, we’ve seen the analysis, we’ve heard it from multiple sources on different angles that a bullet went through his ear. I’m not sure it matters that much.”

Former President Donald Trump also wrote about the matter. Doing so on Truth Social, he said, “Not that anyone doubted it, but in order to rid our Country of the political statement put out by the Director of the FBI, in between fighting for the Safety and Security of those burning our American Flags, and right now spraying our beautiful Limestone Monuments in Washington, D.C., this is a picture of the bullet right after piercing my ear. Perhaps FBI Director Christopher Wray will notice there is no shrapnel or glass flying through the ear, only a bloodstained bullet.”

Continuing, he wrote, “It’s all so damaging to the Great People that work in the FBI. As The New York Times reported, other bullets came very close. Nobody ever called, even out of curiosity, from the Federal Bureau of Insurrection. P.S. After the Great Supreme Court Decision, when are the hunted down J6 Hostages going to be released, and when are yesterday’s Vandals and Flag Burners going to be put in prison?”
