New York Attorney General Letitia James is facing some legal trouble of her own after being targeted this week by a lawsuit filed against her by several pro-life organizations.

The suit was filed against James “on the grounds she attempted to prevent Christian pregnancy centers from promoting an ‘abortion pill reversal’ drug,” Newsmax reported. The Thomas More Society, a Chicago-based Catholic public interest law firm, is representing the groups.

The faith-based pro-life centers have accused James of engaging in a “witch hunt” after sending out a “Notice of Proposed Litigation” letter on April 22 to several New York-based crisis pregnancy centers. The letters warn that the AG’s office “intends to seek injunctive relief, restitution, damages, civil penalties, [and] auditing” due to “persistent misleading statements” in the advertising of the Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) protocol.

Newsmax added: “The APR procedure is when a woman has changed her mind about aborting a pregnancy after taking mifepristone, a drug that is used to end a pregnancy. APR patients then take progesterone to nullify the effects of mifepristone. While the Abortion Pill Rescue Network claims APR has a 64%-68% success rate, neither the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists nor the FDA have endorsed the procedure.”

“This is a political witch-hunt against small nonprofits that have selflessly served New York’s pregnant women and their children for over 50 years,”  Peter Breen, Thomas More Society Executive vice president and head of litigation, said in a statement.

“Defendant James has no business butting into the intimate medical decision of an expectant mother, in consultation with the medical professional of her choice, to carry her pregnancy to term and save her unborn baby from the disastrous effects of mifepristone while there is still time to undo the effects of that powerful chemical,” the lawsuit says.

The president of Heartbeat International, Jor-El Godsey said: “New York State laws protect abortionists and abortion on demand up until birth. Now they are targeting those who assist a woman in exercising her right to continue her own pregnancy.”

“It is unconscionable to see the abortion industry and its paid-for politicians go so far as to insist she complete an abortion she no longer wants,” Godsey added.

Meanwhile, Alina Habba, Donald Trump’s lawyer and spokeswoman, said that the former president can’t get a fair trial in the hush money case in Manhattan because the jury seems to be biased about politics.

Habba, who is not representing Trump in the trial, said during an interview on Fox News that she is worried that “politicized judges and blue juries” will work against him. She also said she doesn’t care if the trial proves Trump guilty or not because “the facts are on our side” to suggest he didn’t do anything wrong. What worries her is how the jury will see him no matter what.

“The issue [is] we have politicized judges and blue juries coming in, and they’re supposed to be impartial, but you have a judge tweaking, reprimanding, putting down counsel on the other side, being harder on one side than the other, that affects the jury,” Habba said. “And that’s not fair. It’s not right.”

“Now, if President Trump is given a fair jury, a fair trial like anybody else in this country would be—because his name is Trump, he doesn’t—that’s where my concern is, not the facts. The facts are on our side,” Habba added.

In response to allegations that he arranged for adult film star Stormy Daniels to receive “hush money” from his former attorney Michael Cohen in order to conceal an alleged affair between Daniels and Trump prior to the 2016 election, Trump entered a not guilty plea on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

According to Trump’s corporate records, the funds were declared as “legal fees,” which prosecutors claim was a part of a criminal effort to sway the results of the 2016 presidential contest. While acknowledging that he paid Cohen $130,000 back, Trump insists that he never had an affair with Daniels, and a statement she issued in 2018 denied it as well.
