The House That Democrats Built with Shoddy DEI

I think this little story — most likely a folk tale — sets the stage perfectly:

A master carpenter, who worked for the same builder for nearly 50 years, announced he wanted to retire. The builder told him how much he appreciated his work and gave the carpenter a $5,000 bonus. But then he asked the carpenter if he would build just one more house — someone’s dream home on a magnificent lot with a spectacular view.

The carpenter was bitterly disappointed at the small bonus, but he reluctantly agreed. However, because of his resentment toward his boss, he cut corners, ignored details, and accepted shoddy workmanship from other workers. He even looked the other way when some of them substituted cheaper materials and pocketed the difference.

When the house was finished, the builder shook the carpenter’s hand and with a huge smile gave him the deed to the house he had just built. The carpenter was ashamed that he had misjudged his old boss and friend and betrayed his own values. He was remorseful that the house he would live in for the rest of his life was built so carelessly.

The House That DEI Built

Joe Biden and the Democrats have built an entire “house” on DEI, but never expected to have to live in it. During the 2016 presidential campaign, Biden said numerous times that he would pick a woman of color to be his running mate to satisfy the Far Left (and James Clyburn, who resurrected his campaign with his endorsement during the South Carolina primary). In January 2020, he announced that he was considering four individuals as finalists for his VP pick — all black women.

Because of Biden’s obsession with a DEI pick, rather than the most competent candidate (regardless of color or gender), the Left has wound up with Kamala Harris. That’s the same Kamala Harris who had to drop out of the 2020 Democratic presidential primary even before the Iowa Caucus. In total number of delegates, she tied with SpongeBob SquarePants.

Now, the Dems find themselves in a quandary. If they throw her to the curb, they will come across as racists (according to their ideology) by bypassing the first black female presidential candidate. But on the other hand, she has proven to be the most incompetent vice-president in modern history — probably ever. She was the czar of our southern border during an invasion of more illegal immigrants than the population of 36 states.

Word Salads

And most of the time, she doesn’t even speak coherently. Here are a few lines from her famous “word salads”:

  • “We know community banks are in the community.”
  • “We will assist Jamaica in COVID recovery by assisting in terms of the recovery efforts in Jamaica.”
  • “It’s time for us to do what we have been doing, and that time is every day.”
  • “We’ve got to take this stuff seriously, as seriously as you are because you have been forced to take this seriously.”

So, despite her level of popularity being somewhere between a root canal and a colonoscopy, Kamala is who DEI got them (by Biden’s own words). Let’s get the popcorn popped and see how this all plays out.

Harvest Time

Galatians 6:8 (ceb) says, “Make no mistake, God is not mocked. A person will harvest what they plant. Those who plant only for their own benefit will harvest devastation from their selfishness.”

The Democrats never really cared about who the DEI cult devastated as long as it was someone else and they got the Far Left’s votes and George Soros’s money. But now, they are about to harvest the devastation themselves. I conclude with a look at the three “pillars” of DEI with reminders of why they bring devastation.

Diversity

Many believe the devastation we witnessed in Butler, Pennsylvania was the result of the incompetence of diversity hires — even now-former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle herself. Corey Comperatore was brutally murdered in front of his family, and Donald Trump was within a few millimeters of being taken out.

Biden even promised he would appoint a black woman to the Supreme Court for the sake of diversity. So we now have got Ketanji Brown Jackson, who, when Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) asked her to define “woman,” replied, “I’m not a biologist.” (I think Riley Gaines had the best line on that. She said, “I’m not a vet, but I know what a dog is!”)

God is quite diverse. His good news is “to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people” (Revelation 14:6). But we should always hire the most qualified people for the jobs and let the diversity chips fall where they may.

Equity

There’s a huge difference between “equity” and “equality.” With equality, everyone gets the same rights, but with equity, everyone gets the same results. Equity isn’t about effort; it’s about “what people deserve.” And who gets to decide what everybody deserves? The racial justice activists, of course. The calls for reparations are all about equity.

It’s interesting that the Democrats are the ones pushing for reparations because historically, theirs is the party that opposed the Thirteenth Amendment (which officially freed the slaves), the Fourteenth Amendment (which granted them citizenship), and the Fifteenth Amendment (which gave them the right to vote). Democrats also created the Jim Crow laws.

Think about the ramifications of white people giving reparations to black people. Tiger Woods would essentially receive money that would come from taxes paid by his white caddy (Lance Bennett). Robert Johnson, the first African American billionaire, would receive his payout courtesy of taxes from his white secretaries. And none of these individuals’ parents or grandparents were slaves or slave owners.

It’s clear in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30), the five wise and five foolish virgins (Matthew 25:1 ̶ 11), and elsewhere in Scripture that God has ordained a merit-based economic system.

Inclusion

Inclusion is a “cousin” to diversity, but is more about the feelings of certain groups. Simply put, it’s making those groups feel included. Even Merriam Webster has added a definition to accommodate this ideology: “the act or practice of including and accommodating people who have historically been excluded (as because of their race, gender, sexuality, or ability).”

That’s all Democrat-speak for allowing men to compete in women’s sports. And allowing a man — who thinks he’s a woman — to be a four-star admiral instead of trying to get him help for his mental illness. The Left just plays along and puts him out there in front of the cameras — a guy in a dress, humiliating the United States on the world stage.

I’m sorry, but Jesus is not all-inclusive. When He returns, He will separate all people as “dividing sheep from goats” (Matthew 25:32 ̶ 33).

To recap, DEI is a terrible idea. But the craziest thing about it is that’s all “window dressing” that actually produce the opposite of the desired outcomes.

It was in the name of diversity that the idea of affirmative action was conceived to combat racial injustice. So the Left’s solution to hiring people for jobs and admitting them to universities on the basis of skin color is hiring people for jobs and admitting them to universities on the basis of skin color.

Equity also produces the opposite result. It’s been proven that all welfare programs — attempting to produce equity — tend to keep the recipients in bondage. Ben Carson has said of welfare programs, “That’s not compassion, that’s the opposite of compassion. It’s making people dependent.”

Inclusion also produces the opposite outcome. Inclusion excludes. If you don’t believe me, ask the female swimmers in the NCAA who were “excluded” from awards, and then were excluded from having privacy in their locker room. And how many well-qualified individuals were excluded from the position of vice-president, Supreme Court justice, and admiral so we could “include” those who aren’t?

It’s complete madness, and the Democrats are likely going to pay a heavy price for it on November 5. If they don’t, we all will continue to keep paying the price. And it’s steep.
