The Democratic establishment is lining up behind Vice President Kamala Harris to replace President Joe Biden as the party’s presidential nominee. Biden, former President Bill Clinton, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), former first lady Hillary Clinton, and Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) have endorsed Harris for president, which is great news if you are an illegal immigrant.

The southern border is already a problem under the Biden administration, with Harris serving as its border czar. However, if Harris becomes president, the issue will likely get much worse.

Harris is to the left of Biden in many areas, especially immigration. During her 2020 presidential bid, Harris, a “Medicare for all” backer, supported free, taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants. Compare that to Biden, who wanted to let illegal immigrants purchase an unsubsidized public option healthcare plan. Both are bad ideas, but at least Biden opposed giving free health insurance plans to illegal immigrants.

Harris also ran on decriminalizing illegal border crossings, something that even Biden opposes. Harris said “an undocumented immigrant is not a criminal” during her tenure as California attorney general in 2015.

So Harris not only wanted more government handouts for illegal immigrants, but she also wanted to reduce the penalty for people entering the country illegally to a civil offense rather than a criminal one.

Harris is the same politician who drew parallels between Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Ku Klux Klan, contending that ICE stokes fear in Latin Americans the way the KKK did for black Americans.

“Are you aware that there is a perception that ICE is administering its power in a way that is causing fear and intimidation, particularly among immigrants and specifically among immigrants coming from Mexico and Central America?” Harris said in November 2018.

Never mind that ICE removes child rapists and murderers from the United States. Its priority is ridding the U.S. of the worst criminals who are in the country illegally. ICE is not hellbent on detaining and deporting everyone illicitly picking strawberries with otherwise clean records.

However, if Harris thinks illegally crossing into the country is no crime, one must wonder whether or not a Harris administration ICE would preemptively deport heinous criminals with rap sheets in other countries before they strike here.

Since at least 2006, Harris has also supported the concept of sanctuary cities, something the Biden administration now somewhat opposes. Like government handouts and reducing legal penalties associated with illegal border crossings, sanctuary cities are a magnet for illegal immigrants, as they refuse to collaborate with federal law enforcement, making it harder to deport criminal illegal immigrants.

The Biden administration has had about 2 million “gotaways” at the southern border, and during Biden’s tenure, Border Patrol agents have arrested people from 180 different countries at our borders. People from all over the world, including criminals, are capitalizing on our weak borders. Just imagine how much worse things could get with an even more radical president such as Harris.

If Democrats have any interest in securing the southern border, they must pick someone else as their presidential nominee.
