Democrat Representative of Texas Sheila Jackson Lee has died at the age of 74.
CBS reported a cause of death for Jackson Lee has yet to be released, but back in June, she announced she was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer.
Lee represented Texas’ 18th Congressional District and spent nearly three decades in office.
In a statement, Lee’s office wrote “A fierce champion of the people, she was affectionately and simply known as “Congresswoman” by her constituents in recognition of her near-ubiquitous presence and service to their daily lives for more than 30 years.”

Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas has died, her office announced Friday evening. She was 74 years old.
A cause of death was not immediately disclosed. Last month, however, Lee revealed that she had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
“A fierce champion of the people, she was affectionately and simply known as “Congresswoman” by her constituents in recognition of her near-ubiquitous presence and service to their daily lives for more than 30 years,” her office said in a statement.

U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who was known by many in Houston for her hard work and public service, passed away at the age of 74.
Jackson Lee, who has represented Texas’ 18th Congressional District for nearly three decades, revealed her battle with pancreatic cancer in June.
The Queens, New York native and daughter of a comic book artist attended Yale University and the University of Virginia where she obtained her law degree.
While she was in college, she met the man who would become her husband, Elwyn Lee, in 1973. He took a job at the University of Houston as a law professor and that led the New Yorkers to travel to Houston.
However, while in Houston, Jackson Lee had political aspirations and attempted to run for judgeships in Houston, but was unsuccessful three times.
