CNN Fact Checker Gets Checkmated by Mike Waltz in Epic Verbal Smackdown at RNC

The Republican National Convention just wrapped in Milwaukee on Thursday. It was a barnburner with fun and inspiring moments. Even CNN's Van Jones had to admit there was "something happening."

I don't think the Democratic convention is going to come anywhere near it for the unity and the spirit, especially given they don't even seem to know who their nominee is and are right now trying to shove aside the guy who had the primary votes. That tends not to lend to unity.

In the midst of all this, CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale claimed that what Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) said during his RNC remarks about Biden's focus on electric tanks was "pure fiction." But when Waltz sat down subsequently on Thursday with CNN's Boris Sanchez, he took that opportunity to deliver an epic verbal smackdown to Dale. Waltz then explained all the information that he had showing indeed this was true.

Waltz noted reporting the electric tanks had to be put on hold because they had to further invest in and develop the battery technology. He said he has testimony with the Secretary of the Army on this issue of electric fighting vehicles in addition to the non-tactical vehicles mentioned in the climate strategy.

Waltz then suggested that Dale sit down with the chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness (him) who approves these budgets, "who has the testimony and has the actual facts"  (and might just know of what he speaks) "before he questions someone's credibility on national television."

Sanchez said he thought Dale would be "more than happy to sit down" with Waltz.

Waltz replied, "He should do that before he publicly puts it...He said it on air. When we talk about misleading, he's misleading the public...I have all the facts. If he's misleading on that, what else is he misleading on?"

Sanchez tried to defend Dale, saying getting to the truth is a "process."

Waltz then finished Dale off, noting he made his comment minutes after Waltz's remarks, so there was no way that he could have reviewed all the facts or know the testimony that Waltz has received under oath.

Now, that's the way to handle it; that was epic work by Waltz. He showed very simply how ridiculous the "fact check" was, and he even did it on CNN to boot.

People loved it.
