The 1776® Community, a grassroots movement combining the elements of American patriotism, the American Dream of home ownership, and the founding ideals of The United States of America: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and its partner Building Homes for Heroes®, a national non-profit, non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization supported by Lowes that is determined and devoted to bringing renewed hope to our nation’s injured veterans, first responders, and their families.

These two entities are donating a mortgage-free home in Gastonia, North Carolina to Army Sergeant Peter Clark and his wife, Army Specialist Kelly Clark. A home donation dedication ceremony will take place on Friday, July 26 at 10 am at 3089 Founding Fathers Drive in 1776® Gastonia and 150+ community members, first responders, local dignitaries are due to be in attendance and there will be a firetruck procession to their new home. Hopefully, you can cover this patriotic story honoring these two highly esteemed and deserving veterans and these appreciative community partners who are so grateful for their service and sacrifices.

Army Sergeant Peter Clark embarked on numerous life-threatening journeys across Iraq, where he delivered essential supplies, ammunition and transported fallen soldiers. On a particularly harrowing mission, he suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) while navigating hostile terrain. This incident, along with prolonged exposure to burn pits, significantly impacted his physical and mental health, leading to diagnoses of lung and brain cancer, memory loss, PTSD, and other debilitating conditions. The community of 1776® Gastonia stands ready to welcome them with open arms and offer the support they need.

Brock Fankhauser, Founder of The 1776® Community, visits with The New American senior editor Rebecca Terrell to discuss these veterans and why he and Building Homes for Heroes wanted to donate a home to them.
