In yet another hilarious blow to strike the left in the wake of the horrific attack on former President Donald Trump over the weekend, singer Mick Jagger was, in a quite funny incident. loudly booed by the not-very-welcoming crowd at his Rolling Stones concert in Vancouver, Canada. That moment came when he praised Canadian PM Justin Trudeau.

As background, Trudeau was, due to his age and comments, hoped by many to be a leader who would help Canada move into the new century when he was elected. Instead, he has become regarded mainly as a tyrant in conservative and libertarian circles due to his highly restrictive COVID policies and the crackdown on the trucker protest.

In any case, the tense moment at the concert began when Mick Jagger randomly and oddly displayed his apparent admiration for PM Trudeau, saying, “We love you, Mr. Trudeau.” That comment was met not with cheers and agreement but with resounding, deafening boos from throughout the arena in which he was giving the concert.

Even more shockingly than his original comment was that Mick Jagger stuck with it despite the booing from the now-hostile crowd, saying, “I mean, his family’s always been such big fans of our band.” That is a reference to his mother, Margaret, being something of a groupie with the band after she left his father in the 1970s.

But the crowd remained hostile, so he then moved on, away from praising the tyrant of the north and on to trying to appease the booing crowd with a platitude about Canada’s soccer team, saying, “By the way, congratulations on the Canadian soccer team getting to the semi-finals.” The Mirror, noting that that strategy worked at getting the crowd back on his side, reported:

The crowd was immediately whipped back into a frenzy, a sentiment shared by singer Celine Dion who was moved to tears while watching The Rolling Stones perform at their Las Vegas concert in May. The 56 year old “My Heart Will Go On” singer had to cancel her own tour after being diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome (SPS) in 2022, a rare neurological disorder characterized by muscle stiffness and spasms.

Mick Jagger also, speaking during the concert about how the band’s first hit came from songwriter Irma Thomas, saying, “In 1964, which is a very long time ago, we heard this great song on the radio by this amazing singer. We recorded it and it became our first kind of hit in America. The lady that did the song first, she’s the Soul Queen of New Orleans! I’d like to bring out on stage now to sing the song with us, here she is, Miss Irma Thomas! “.

Mick Jagger mocked Trump during a concert in Atlanta earlier in 2024, saying, in reference to a conversation Trump had with Georgia Secretary of State Ben Raffensberger, “We wanted to play ‘Wild Horses.’ All we needed was 11,000 more votes. There’s a more important vote coming up in November. Don’t forget to vote in that one.”
