As speculation grows, sources close to the situation have revealed that multiple contenders for the coveted selection have been informed they will not be Trump’s vice-presidential pick. On Monday, Gram Slattery of Reuters confirmed Florida Senator Marco Rubio’s exclusion from the VP race, stating, “Florida Senator Marco Rubio has been informed he will not be Trump’s VP, sources say.”

A source also informed Fox News’ Paul Steinhauser that North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has received a call notifying him that he is not Trump’s choice for running mate. Burgum’s exclusion further narrows the field.

Known for his eloquence and experience on the national stage, Rubio was considered a strong contender. However, insiders suggested that Trump was looking for a running mate who not only aligns with his vision but also brings fresh energy to the ticket. Rubio, while respected, may not have fit the bill in this regard.

There is also the growing possibility of a dark horse candidate.

The announcements come after possible Secret Service vehicles were spotted at the home of Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH), one of the few Republicans rumored to remain on the president’s VP shortlist. The arrival of increased protection for Vance was chalked up to routine security enhancements by Governor Mike DeWine following the attempted assassination of Trump on Saturday, though DeWine, could be following orders from higher-ups in the GOP to put a ring around Vance before he joins Trump in Milwaukee.
