CNN broadcast their reactions to the assassination attempt on Donald Trump on Saturday afternoon, and while they perfunctorily condemned the violence, they also blamed Trump for how he responded to the attempt to kill him.

The issue, for Jamie Gangel, was what Trump said after he rose from where he'd ducked to avoid gunfire. With blood streaming down his face, Secret Service guiding him off stage, Trump raised his fist and said "Fight! Fight! Fight!

But for Gangel, those three words were a problem. "I do wanna say there was one thing that when I watched the tape I found odd because of all of the heated rhetoric, and that is that after he was hit, former President Trump got up and said 'fight, fight, fight.' I think what we're hearing from people is that's not the message we want to be sending right now, we want to tamp it down."

That was not, however, the response of the crowd in Butler, PA. As Trump rose and was guided off, he stopped the agents who were urging him to duck down. "Wait, wait, wait," he said. Then he rose his fist and said "Fight! Fight! Fight!"

The crowd, which had been terrified just seconds before, screaming in horror, rose to their feet and began cheering for Trump. He did not leave stage without letting the crowd know that not only was he alright, but that they, too, would live to fight another day. It was this reassurance that Gangel took issue with.

Trump was speaking to a large rally crowd in Butler, PA, when shots rang out. He reached up to his right ear, realized he was being shot at, and dove under the podium where he was quickly surrounded by Secret Service agents.

The Secret Service neutralized the gunman on a nearby rooftop, shooting him dead. In the hours after the shooting, many called on the head of the Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, to resign.
