Rudy Giuliani is no longer entitled to bankruptcy protection, a judge ruled on Friday, and creditors will be able to go after his assets within days in his case. The former New York mayor sought bankruptcy protection after a jury ruled in favor of two election workers to be awarded $148 million in a defamation case against Giuliani.

According to a report from The Hill, in a 22-page ruling, US Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane ruled against the bankruptcy claim, citing Giuliani's failure to give financial transparency. Giuliani’s legal team has indicated he plans on appealing the defamation verdict which ruled in favor of election workers Shaye Moss and Ruby Freeman, rewarding them the large sum.

“Mr. Giuliani has failed to provide an accurate and complete picture of his financial affairs in the six months that this case has been pending. Transparency into Mr. Giuliani’s finances has proven to be an elusive goal,” Lane wrote in the bankruptcy ruling. “The Court finds that cause exists to convert or dismiss the case.”

“The record in this case reflects Mr. Giuliani’s continued failure to meet his reporting obligations and provide the financial transparency required of a debtor in possession. These failures are set forth in extensive detail in the Trustee Motion and the objection to the Conversion Motion,” the ruling added.

“Considering the totality of circumstances and weighing all the facts, therefore, the interests of the creditors and the estate are better served with dismissal,” the ruling concluded.

By dismissing the bankruptcy claim, Giuliani's assets will be in near immediate danger of being seized. Moss and Freeman had been two election workers in Georgia, Giuliani had accused them of committing election fraud in the state.
