Missteps and oral gaffes by President Joe Biden continued as he referred to himself as the first Black woman vice president.

The latest faux pas was during an interview on WURD Radio out of Philadelphia with Andrea Lawful-Sanders, host of The Source.

Biden’s campaign hoped the interview would assuage fears about his reelection run after a dismal performance in the June 27 debate, per Politico.

Well, it didn’t.

Instead Biden spoke about being the first Black female vice president.

“I’m proud to be, as I said, the first vice president, first Black woman, to serve with a Black president,” Biden said in his first media appearance after the debate.

And the missteps didn’t stop there.

When Biden talked about discriminating Catholics, he said he was “the first president [who] got elected statewide in the state of Delaware.” 

He apparently left off the word Catholic in the sentence.

At one point, he referred to former President Donald Trump as a colleague, but quickly corrected himself.

Biden also talked about the debate.

“I had a bad debate,” Biden said on WURD Radio. “But 90 minutes on stage does not erase what I have done in three-and-a-half years.”

The 81-year-old Biden, the oldest presidential nominee from a major party in history, stumped for the Black vote during the interview.

“Black voters in cities like Philadelphia are the ones who are going to decide the outcome of this election,” Biden said.

The interview ended with Biden answering a question about those not intending to vote.

“Same thing that was said to me when I was a young kid getting out of school during the Civil Rights Movement,” Biden said. “If you don’t do something about it, you’re to blame.”
