Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson tweeted on Wednesday that, after two years of effort, it appeared that he had finally secured an interview with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

But a spokesman for Zelenskyy’s office denied that such an interview was in the works and released a statement today saying, “The President of Ukraine has a completely different schedule, and Tucker Carlson is not on it.”

Carlson has faced considerable criticism from U.S. and Ukrainian officials for his two hour interview with Vladimir Putin in February. By allowing the Russian president to present his side, Carlson angered supporters of Ukraine who denounced his willingness to present any viewpoint other than the official U.S./Ukrainian narrative.

He was accused of parroting Kremlin talking points and rumors swirled that the conservative commentator had been added to an official “enemies list” compiled by Ukrainian supporters.

Earlier this year Congressman J.D. Vance (R-OH) Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) had demanded answers from Secretary of State Antony Blinken regarding a State Department-linked nongovernmental organization (NGO) that maintains a list of what it calls traitors and enemies to the Ukrainian regime.

Tucker Carlson’s name appears on that list as a foreign propagandist.

Carlson had expressed hope for a Zelenskyy interview to bring light to what he called “much-needed information about the conflict” which has raged for the past two years.

Zelenskyy has drawn criticism for suspending elections in his country and for refusing to leave office at the end of his term as well as his crackdown on Orthodox Churches which he claims are collaborating with Moscow.

If Tucker Carlson is the scandalous pushover that his critics claim he is, Zelenskyy should have no trouble presenting and defending his actions and the worthiness of his cause.

Could the Ukrainian president’s reluctance to talk to anyone but carefully vetted members of the controlled media indicate that Zelenskyy has doubts of his own?
