‘If Such Is Still Necessary’: “Hours after the Supreme Court’s decision was released, Trump’s attorneys asked the court to allow them to file a motion seeking to overturn the verdict in the case by July 10. Prosecutors from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office said that they were not opposed to delaying sentencing until the issue is resolved, and asked for a deadline of July 24 to respond to the defense’s motion. In a brief response, Merchan approved the proposed schedule and wrote that he’ll render a decision on Trump’s motion on Sept. 6. A leading coronavirus vaccine maker is in line for another big payday. “The US government will pay the vaccine maker Moderna $176 million to accelerate development of a pandemic influenza vaccine that could be used to treat bird flu in people, as concern grows about cases in dairy cows across the country, federal officials announced Tuesday,” the Associated Press reports. “Moderna already has a bird flu vaccine in very early-stage testing that uses the same mRNA technology that allowed rapid development and rollout of vaccines to protect against COVID-19,” the wire service writes.

Taxpayer Dollars Are Flowing: “The new funds from the US Department of Health and Human Services include continued development of the vaccine, including a late-stage trial next year if those early study results are positive.
