Whoopi Goldberg is tired of ‘every Republican’ referring to Trump as ‘the president’

The View hosts shared their predictions ahead of Thursday night’s CNN presidential debate, but co-host Whoopi Goldberg expressed frustration at how Republicans have been referring to former President Donald Trump.

“Can I say something that’s been bothering me?” Goldberg asked on Thursday’s episode. “It’s been bothering me. I would like every Republican out there to stop referring to this man as ‘the president.’ He is not ‘the president.'”

“He’s the former president,” co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in.

Goldberg agreed with Hostin, repeating her words while emphasizing the word “former.”

“Nobody can see the future. And the same with the donors — you cannot buy the presidency. You can put as much money as you want to, but it’s not for sale, so stop calling him the president. He is not the president yet. He’s the former president with all the other things that attached,” Goldberg said.

Hostin added that Goldberg was right because he will be with “the current president” on the debate stage Thursday night.

“I think one thing is certain that we can expect is that Donald Trump will lie a lot,” Hostin declared.

Goldberg quipped, “No!”

“Yeah, he lied more than 30,000 times during his presidency,” Hostin stated.

“What? 30,000? My god,” Goldberg responded.

Hostin showed concern over the former president not being fact-checked in real-time and admitted their ABC show had a crew of 200 people and wondered how CNN would not have the same capability to handle live fact-checking.

Co-host Alyssa Farrah Griffin said she spoke to CNN and they would fact check if it is a “blatant lie.”

Joy Behar shared her concern about President Joe Biden having to hear Trump onstage even if the former president’s mic is turned off.

“When Trump keeps talking, his mic is shut, that’s not enough because Joe Biden can still hear him,” she said. “If you keep yammering, I can hear you. They need to be in a quiz show isolation booth.”

Behar also defended against the criticism that Biden would have a “senior moment” during the debate.

“This senior moment business, everybody has a senior moment,” she said.

The 81-year-old host added, “It’s not fair for the guy if he’s thinking and stutters. He’s overcome a lot of disabilities, the poor guy in his life. Leave him alone.”

Co-host Sara Haines said Biden has “a chance to win people, like the Nikki Haley voters” in the debate.
