Famed psychic Nostradamus is iconic for making many, many correct predictions about dramatic world events.

The prophet, real name Michel de Nostredame, has seen a number of his prophecies from his book Les Prophéties come true over the years after it was released more than 450 years ago. He is said to have accurately predicted the rise of Adolf Hitler, the shooting of President John F Kennedy, the start of the Covid pandemic and even 2022's cost of living crisis.

However, they often say that a broken clock is right twice a day . . . and an-often spot on bloke who predicts things can also be wrong – several times.

And in the spirit of Indian Nostradamus Kushal Kumar incorrectly giving an exact date – June 14 – as the start of World War 3, the Daily Star has delved into some of good ol' Nos's claims to see when he went wrong.

And surprisingly . . . it's happened a lot, and sometimes in a very big way leading to us giving England's Declan Rice a new nickname.

9/11 terror attacks

Many have claimed that Nostradamus predicted one of the worst terrorists attacks in history, but he did not. The Frenchman eluded to it, but when you look at the quote you realise very quickly that he probably wasn't even talking about it.

He said: “Volcanic fire from the centre of the earth will cause trembling around the new city: Two great rocks will make war for a long time. Then Arethusa will redden a new river.”

Many have said that “Arethusa” just means the USA, but a quick Google search shows that it was actually a nymph who fled from her home in Arcadia beneath the sea and came up as a fresh water fountain on the island of Ortygia.

So basically, none of it makes sense and the prediction was wrong.

The “King of Terror” coming from the sky in 1999

There's a lot to digest with this one.

Firstly, the quote: “In the year 1999, in the seventh month, from the sky will come the great King of Terror, bringing back to life the great King of the Mongols. Before and after, Mars to reign by good fortune.”

Secondly, 1999 has come and gone, and let's be honest . . . no King of Terror came from the sky. If it did, we'd have all known about it.

However, what did happen in 1999 was the birth of Declan Rice. He was born in January, which is not the seventh month, unless you're an stato who knows who Vitinho and Ederson (not the Manchester City one) are, then we're going with Declan Rice and dubbing him the King of Terror.

Some claim this is another 9/11 prediction by trying to tie King of the Mongols and Kabul together, but it really is reaching. Either way, Nostradamus was wrong.

A Great War in 2002

The quote: “Mars and the sceptre will be in conjunction, A calamitous war under Cancer. A short time afterward a new king will be anointed, Who will bring peace to the earth for a very long time.”

It's 2024 and we've still not had the Great War Nostradamus talked about . . . although it does feel like it's coming, which throws the “bring peace” line out of the window.

We have had a new king though, so it wasn't totally wrong.

The great Albanian invasion of Italy

Nostradamus said: “The Albanians will pass into Rome. By means of Langres the multitude muffled up, Marquis and Duke will pardon no man; Fire, blood, morbid watering the crops to fail.”

Rome is still very much Italian, and Italy just beat Albania in Euro 2024 – and the three previous times they've faced each other. There's not much else to say about this other than he was just so far wrong with this prediction.
