(Andrews Air Force Base, Md.) First Lady Jill Biden could be seen waving goodbye to her husband, Joe, as she prepared to depart for her first foreign trip after taking over his presidency this week.
“I don’t know if you all know this or not, but I’ve been running things pretty much the whole time,” Jill told reporters aboard the aircraft. “It just got to be too much back-and-forth between me and Joe that it just made sense now, a couple of months out from the election, to just formally take over the presidency. I wanted to do it last year, but then Thanksgiving came, then Christmas, and then we got bogged down with figuring out what combination of stimulants we were gonna give him for his State of the Union address. So now seemed like a good time.”
At press time, the now-former first lady had not yet decided what her first act would be—declaring herself the first female president or declaring flowered dresses the official lady’s wear for the country.
