Amid the backlash to President-elect Donald Trump winning the 2024 presidential election by a landslide, many supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris have not handled the loss well.  Following the election, a national security bureaucrat was recorded on film harassing a black woman in a coffee shop in the Washington, D.C. area over the woman’s support for Trump.

Annetta Catchings, who previously ran as a Republican candidate for mayor in Alexandria, Virginia, shared footage to social media of Patti Morrissey confronting her in the coffee shop after overhearing her make pro-Trump comments in a private conversation.  Morrissey scolded Catchings, questioning how she could support Trump.

Furthermore, Morrissey attempted to highlight her credentials as a “35-year national security expert” to give credence to her argument.  According to reports, Morrissey worked throughout the government in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the State Department, and the Pentagon.  The video shows

During the interaction, Morrissey lashed out at Catchings after hearing her say, “As a conservative woman, I could never vote for Kamala Harris..”  Morrisey then claimed, “I’m shocked…. Educated women.” Someone accompanying Catchings replied, “Educated? What does educated have to do with it?” Morrisey retorted, “It means you understand that someone who is a convicted felon who is a sex offender and accused of espionage, indicted for espionage.”

“The only people who ever challenge me are white Democrat women,” Catchings replied.  Becoming visibly frustrated, Morrissey shouted, “I am a thirty-five year national security expert! National security expert!”  “Oh, you’re so smart,” someone with Catchings replied sarcastically.  Someone appearing to work at the coffee shop interjected, claiming, “Everyone can believe what they want to believe.” Morrissey proceeded to lean over and say, “Absolute denial.”

Calling out Trump supporters, Morrissey said in a recent social media post, “This weekend the trolls taught me: Insisting our next President NOT be convicted of fraud, bribery & sexual assault, and NOT be indicted on espionage charges and of inciting an insurrection makes you a ‘white liberal’ and a ‘racist.’”

Continuing to trash Trump in other comments, she said, “If you think the disinformation has been insane so far, it’s about to get much worse in these last four days.  There will be an onslaught of lies from our strategic enemies to make it look like our election process is unfair and that the Democrats are cheating. brace yourself and don’t believe a word. And ask yourselves, why has Trump had seven phone calls with Vladimir Putin?”

Catchings shared footage of the interaction on X, writing, “As a conservative woman I could never vote for Kamala Harris b/c,,,” What happened next was 3 separate attacks from this stranger! Her friend had to hold her back. I was called uneducated as she proceeded to give me her resumé.”  Users on social media reacted to the incident, defending Catchings.

“She was given the benefit of the doubt and reseated. She came back and got in my face a 3rd time and was never asked to leave the restaurant! #Tatte Cafe and Bakery do better. All due to my political beliefs,” one person said.  Another added, “Wow! Did she say “you’re uneducated women”???? It was hard to understand. The party of “empowering women” is attacking a woman that thinks differently than them. I’m sorry this happened to you…good on you for standing up for your beliefs. It’s sad that anyone thinks it’s ok to attack a private conversation…how incredibly entitled.”
