As the dust settles on President-elect Donald Trump’s victory, his celebrity supporters are feeling triumphant, while those who backed Vice President Kamala Harris wrestle with rage and despair.
UFC CEO Dana White, who endorsed Mr. Trump at the Republican National Convention, said on stage at the Trump campaign headquarters in West Palm Beach, Florida, that his victory was “karma” and praised podcaster and UFC color commentator Joe Rogan, calling him “mighty and powerful,” per Fox News.
Mr. Rogan posted a video on X of himself watching Mr. Trump, his family and supporters on the stage and captioned it “WHOLE. LEE. S***.”
X’s owner Elon Musk posted a picture of himself saluting as an American flag waved and echoed President Reagan’s tagline, writing, “It is morning in America again.”
Barstool Sports founder and CEO Dave Portnoy also voted for Mr. Trump, but said Democrats put him and others in a corner, forcing their hands come Election Day.
“The Democrats gave us no choice. That was the worst campaign and the pure arrogance and the moral superiority have driven people away. If you say you’re voting for Trump, suddenly you’re a Nazi, you’re Hitler, you’re garbage. Enough. Enough!” Mr. Portnoy said in a social media video.
Among Ms. Harris’s supporters, Rapper Cardi B wrote a message to the vice president in a post on social media, saying “no matter what they’ve said to bring you down or belittle your run for presidency they can never say you didnt run your race with honesty and with integrity! … Thank you for being an example, thank you for being empowered, thank you for being a real example of what the American dream should be!”
Other Democrat celebrities, meanwhile, were more angry.
“The Wire” actor Wendell Pierce wrote on social media that “Elections have consequences. The Supreme Court will be changed for a generation. I’ll never see a moderate court again in my lifetime. Alito and Thomas will step down and Trump will appoint 40 year old partisans to the bench. The damage he is about to inflict on our institutions the next 2 years will be irreparable.”
“Community” actress Yvette Nicole Brown indicated in a social media post that she sees the entire country as racist, writing, “This is a disgrace at a level I can’t even quantify. … AmeriKKKa is showing out tonight. Just showing out.”
Christina Applegate, who was featured on “Married… with Children” and starred in multiple “Anchorman” movies, simply asked on X, “Why? Give me your reasons why????? My child is sobbing because her rights as a woman may be taken away. Why?”
