TOP O' THE MORNIN'

WATCH: Kamala's Poor Response to Loss - Supporters' Faces Tell the Tale

Perhaps the icing on the cake for the night was that the lying Kamala HQ account stopped posting early in the night and went silent. Breaking 911 wondered if they had been fired since they hadn't posted in hours.

Election Night Highlights: the Fun, the Joy, and the Meltdowns by the Media

I didn't need another excuse to vote for Trump, but watching the conniptions of the media is certainly enjoyable as they fume.

Trump Speaks With Humility to Supporters at HQ After Victory on Election Night

The speech to supporters provided quite a finale to a remarkable day in our nation's political history, but there was a personal side to it too.

How often does a young man get to cast his first presidential vote ... for his dad?

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

Whew. Where to begin? Big congrats to Deb Fischer in Nebraska, who held onto her Senate seat for the GOP; to Ted Cruz for hanging on in Texas (despite the concerns raised by some when early vote totals appeared to favor Democrat Colin Allred); to Bernie Moreno in Ohio, Tim Sheehy in Montana, and Jim Justice in West Virginia for the pick-ups. I would have loved to see Hung Cao pick up Virginia for the GOP, but alas, the commonwealth will have Sen. Tim Kaine again/still. We're still waiting with fingers crossed for Dave McCormick in Pennsylvania and Sam Brown in Nevada to cross the finish line. (We'll have those calls as soon as DDHQ makes them.)

While the Senate is a solid win for the GOP, we're still awaiting the final word on the House — although it looks promising. I was sorry to see that Lily Williams wasn't able to upset Maggie Goodlander in New Hampshire.

All in all, a pretty darn good night for the GOP. I'll take it.

White House What's Up

Not Joe Biden (probably). Nothing on the President's schedule for Wednesday. I expect we'll see at least a statement from him at some point today. I would think.

Post Mortem

Well, he did it. I wasn't sure he would. After I got over my apprehension at him running again (not because I don't agree with most of his policies; just because of all the baggage that comes with it — much of which isn't his doing, but rather the extraordinarily negative (and, at times, unhinged) response to him), I was all-in. Given the alternative, that was an easy decision. Whether it was Biden or Harris, the thought of four more years of this morass was untenable. I felt fairly confident Trump could win it, as neither of the Democrat offerings was a strong candidate. But I'm also, like many, still recovering from the shell shock of 2020. So there were...concerns. One of the things Trump did this time around that I was pretty sure I understood was venture into deep-blue territory to hold rallies and campaign events. Some questioned the wisdom of this. I didn't. I knew exactly what he was doing: He wanted to win the popular vote almost as much, if not more so, than the Electoral College. I'm happy that he could. I'm also happy for the "Team of Rivals" that he's assembled. They're going to face tremendous headwinds, of course, but I'm anxious to see what they can get done.

A big shout out to Michael Whatley, Lara Trump, and the RNC and their massive team of lawyers (including Harmeet Dhillon), poll watchers, and other volunteers, who were so proactive this time around in addressing election irregularities as soon as they arose. Kudos to them for running a solid offense. (And kudos to our own Managing Editor, Jennifer Van Laar, for helping to nudge Ronna McDaniel out — that may have turned out to be bigger than we even realized.)

Trump Saw Our Reporting, Then Asked RNC Chair McDaniel to Resign

A big shout out, as well, to Scott Presler for giving his all to bring Pennsylvania home. That man deserves a vacation!

And as for Vice President Kamala Harris, well, on one level, I almost feel sorry for her. Almost. She was kind of placed into an impossible situation. But...she had a hand in that, as well. I expect the next two months aren't going to be particularly pleasant for her. But I won't be sad to see her and Second (not a) Gentleman Dougie ride off into the sunset.

Full Court Press...

The big question now: What becomes of all the lawfare against Trump? We're still awaiting that New York appellate decision on his civil fraud case. (That could, in theory, come down tomorrow — I know, I know, I keep promising.) There's the appeal of the classified documents case sitting in the 11th Circuit, multiple appeals (E. Jean Carroll and some continued wrangling over the Manhattan/Alvin Bragg case) pending in the Second Circuit, the sentencing that awaits him from Judge Merchan on November 18, the Jack Smith prosecution over the 2020 election in D.C. and the ongoing battle regarding the scope of immunity, and the Fani Willis/Fulton County case. It's going to be some fun watching how all of those play out now.

Plus...what will become of Hunter Biden? He's got sentencing coming up in December for the firearms convictions and the tax guilty plea. Does Joe pardon him on the way out the door? (Why wouldn't he?)

MORNING MUSING

Despite a couple of congressional races that didn't go as I would have liked, Tuesday was a solid win across the board — except for here in Missouri. Oh, the Republicans won all of the statewide offices, as expected. But Missouri passed Amendment 3, which now enshrines abortion in our constitution up to the point of "fetal viability," which is ill-defined. I'm heartbroken over that one. So, here's my resolve on this early post-election morning: I'm going to do whatever I can to help Missouri right this wrong. I don't know what that looks like yet. But I'm going to figure it out.

I also want to take a moment to thank you, our loyal readers, for hanging with us on a memorable night and early morning. You make what we do here worthwhile. Much appreciated!
