Vice President Kamala Harris’ path to victory got incredibly narrow after 2 a.m. Wednesday as former President Donald Trump won Pennsylvania, almost certainly clinching a second term as president.
CNN, NBC and Fox News all called the key swing state and its 19 Electoral College votes for the former president, putting Mr. Trump at 267 votes, just three short of the needed 270.
Unless Ms. Harris wins Alaska, which has backed a Democrat for president once in its history (Lyndon Johnson in 1964), Mr. Trump will get the needed three votes.
Mr. Trump also led in the key swing states of Arizona, Nevada, Michigan and Wisconsin, though not by enough at 1:30 a.m. to be called.
With 90% of the vote in Pennsylvania counted when Fox News was the first network to call the state, Mr. Trump had a lead of 51.2% to 47.8%, a gap of more than 224,000 votes.
