Decision Desk HQ has projected that Donald J. Trump will win Ohio’s 18 electoral votes, continuing the former president’s strong performance in a state that has shifted from a bellwether to a solidly Republican stronghold.
Trump secured the victory with 53.5% of the vote, outpacing Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris, who garnered 45.6% of the votes with 57% of ballots counted in the state.
Ohio, a state that had once been a key battleground in presidential elections, continues to lean red. Trump also carried Ohio in both 2016 and 2020, by margins of 7.7% and 8.1%, respectively.
With a predominantly White demographic and a history of supporting Republican candidates in recent cycles, Ohio appears firmly in the GOP’s grasp for this election cycle and beyond.
